TBH, when I managed an official 166mph this Summer for a standing 7/8ths mile the car felt remarkably stable. It didn't give me any cause for concern, that said I wouldn't want to do it very often for obvious reasons!
I found 160 to be noisy (car was VERY stripped out and on track tyres) but very stable - no wandering around, no feeling of the steering going light - just like doing 100 but with the scenery on fast-forward
Its amazing how different it feels though - I think with the Coupe we can get a bit blasé about 100 - 140mph, as its so damned easy. However, despite there being only another 20mph difference, 160 suddenly seems very fast indeed.
You have to wonder what it feels like to be in the Ten of the Best winning car - last year, in a mile from a standing start, I got to a fraction under 160. Flea was about 167 IIRC, but the top cars were over 200mph - in a mile, from standing start - incredible

Reading the numbers for Kieth Cowie's R32 GTR from the redline magazine Flea was in, that car does 197mph at the half mile. 0-200mph in 823 metres...
yeah its stupid mental. i went in his car a couple of years a go and it is quicker now but its still mental. the fastest i have beenn as a pasenger was 189 which was crazy and the fastest i have driven was 172 which was crap yourself time it was scary as it was in a old 3 door cossie with 562bhp and not what i would call stable
