Had a quick scan through & looks a little on the quiet side in this neck of the woods...

Is there anything going on down this way, do you have to be a member to attend any of the meets?

Thanks in advance

You most certainly don't have to be a member to attend a meet \:\)

Its been ages since a SW meet took place - Cheddar Gorge/Bath was the last one I remember, that must have been a few years ago.

I'll have a think of some decent roads.

I'm local to Plymouth, so anything going on around there would be good, but it's quite difficult to organise a meet as the SW is such a vast area!

What about Cheddar in Jan, it seems quite central in the S/W...

Any other suggestions for a meet?

some nice roads around cheddar, its fairly local so if you were stuck for ideas around that area let me know. i'd most likely come to anywhere in the south west, i really should have gone to the newport meet a while ago as well

I'd be interested .... It's true the last Cheddar meet must be at least two years ago, probably more.

Seem to remember a bit of an escapade with a pheasant and a close following motorcyclist on one high speed stretch. Think his trousers changed colour soon after, from black to br.....

I'll keep watching this thread and would love to come down, though Sundays are better for me than Saturdays.

Maybe we could get Flea's monster Coupé along?

I remember the pheasant, and how close the biker got to Jonny's Coupe in trying to avoid it...

Yes this sounds like a nice idea, I believe it was me who organised the last one all those years ago \:D How about I bring my kit along and for the price of a beer (or equivalent nourishment) I'll give all concerned a fueling check and bit of advice ;\)

Um, Have we settled on a time yet?

And are we meeting at Cheddar, or somewhere else and making our way there?

I'll see if I can sort the cameras out for the day to record the event - be a shame not to!

As we are all going from different directions I would suggest the rendezvous being the Gorge in one of the lay-bys. Shall we say 11am, have a chat, wander, pics, vids etc, followed by a drive and then pub lunch \:\)

Depending on your where your starting point is we can have various convoys to the destination point.

Sound ok?

11am in one of the lay-bys sounds good Leighton, we won't have to get up too early \:\)

I've been looking for a postcode, BS27 3QE is one for a shop on the road that goes through the Gorge, looks from the map to be quite close to where the lay-bys are.

Marco, let us know if you are coming from Beds and down the M4, Luke and I are going to meet at the services on the M4 and convoy down.

Luke, I know I said Membury, but do you want to meet at Chieveley instead? I'll be coming down the A34 to the M4.

Chris (mrc) - are you still coming to this? Fancy a convoy? \:\)

if you get the chance, id suggest coming into the gorge from the top(not the cheddar end) IMO its a better drive that way, and the roads up on the mendips are very nice indeed.

I *may* be doubtful for this also if the amount of steam coming from under the bonnet this morning when in traffic is anything to go by \:\( Bonnet release cable snapped last weekend too. Into the garage tomorrow to sort it all hopefully.

Geees, that's some bad luck there Wolfman \:\(

We shall miss you too Ryan ;\)

Right looking for a place to eat and I came up with The Burrington Inn. You may notice a certain car in one of their pictures \:\)

Anyway, we can have a little drive out of Cheddar over the Mendip Hills and then past the big lake at Blagdon just in time for some lunch.

Good pub the Burrington. Seems a popular location for car meets! When I had my MR2 the MR2OC all met up there for lunch before heading down to the gorge! \:\)

Ok just to reiterate, we will be meeting up at 11am on the Cheddar Gorge Cliff Road. Just drive along and look out on the right for a gathering of coupes in a parking area. I expect we will be getting to the Burrington Inn around 12.30-1pm after meeting up at the Gorge and then taking the scenic route to the pub. I don't expect we will be at the pub much after 2-2.30pm chief so it looks like you will miss us.

See you all tomorrow \:\)

Well, it was freezing cold (it did try and snow briefly), but in the end stayed dry for a good drive.

Good to meet up with old friends and welcome some new - I must make an effort to get to more meets. Actually we just need to have more in the SW!

I can't believe we managed to stay pretty much together all through the drive; there's usually one poor soul in a non-coupe stuck in the line \:D

Hope everyone got home ok - see you next time.

Paul

Good to see everyone yesterday and enjoyed stretching the Coupés legs on the drive, following Leighton was 'interesting', even if he couldn't get the power down properly even in 3rd - its really impressive, complete transformation from 4 years ago \:D

good to put faces to names and meet everyone, hopefully it'll be a bit warmer next time (and maybe, just maybe i'll fill up with fuel before i get there, and not be paranoid about running out halfway along the drive )

Really enjoyed the meet, especially the drive - have never personally seen so many coops all at once \:D

Took a few photos

Be nice to do one when it`s a bit warmer, maybe a bbq on the beach?

I've been so busy since the meet - the snow caused panic at our London office on the Monday and I've spent the time beefing up our remote access solution!

Must get a video together from the footage taken - looks as though there's enough to choose from.

Roll on a nice warm summer meet!
