Hi,

I have replaced my 918u alarm with one from another coop with matching fobs. It still doesnt work, the hazards stay on and I cannot disarm. Do I need to reset it somehow ?

Only difference now is the light on the dash doesnt illuminate , any ideasd ?

Which bit did you replace? The ECU box (under the dash?) or the siren? If the ECU, did you check the 2 connectors were plugged in, plus the extra little connector block? Was the replacement 100% working before you fitted it to your car? What was wrong with the old alarm? Are you sure the fobs work (does the little light come on when you press the button, does the slider switch change it between 2 or 3 beeps/flashes to confirm interior sensors are off or on, does the panic (right) button immediately set off alam, does the key switch on siren work to switch off/on the siren? Does central locking work?

I changed the ecu, all connectors were fine. As far as I know was previusly working fine. Central locking doesn't work, panic button doesnt work. Old alarm just stopped working, key fob wouldnt deactivate the alarm.

Did the LED on the old fob work? If not, did you change the battery?

so I guess it could be that something else has broken ? The guy who sold me the replacement alarm assured me it used to work fine, anyone any ideas if anything else could be causing the issue ?

Presume all the fuses have been checked? There are some inline fuses seperate to the main fuses on the car. Also checked the bonet close detector switch?

Thanks for that Paddy. I am pretty sure the fuses are ok, I will check the bonnet close detector switch, where can I find this ?

errr.. under the bonnet? \:D

On mine it's in a standard bracket on the right of the radiator, the wire is very thin and gets brittle with the heat and breaks

Does the central locking work when you lock/unlock the door with the key? Maybe the problem is in the central locking unit under the driver's seat?

Yes I know I am dumb lol, thanks for the info !!!

No the central locking doesnt work so guess it could be the central locking unit under the seat, I did think it could be this, if it is this will it be a straight swap ?

Ahh! if the central locking doesn't work - it may have got confused.
When I used to have that problem, I would make sure both doors were unlocked but closed. Bonnet and boot should also be shut, and then leave it this way for about 15 mins (obviously keep a close eye on it while it unlocked) and then try it again... if the alarm doesn't work try the central locking as you may have two seperate problems.
Cheers

ok .... tried Paddys suggestion but no joy.

So central locking only works with key from drivers side.

Remote locking doesnt work.

When I connect old alarm and put ignition on alarm is activated, hazards flashing, alarm light on dash on, fob does nothing.

When I connect new alarm and put ignition on alarm is activated, hazards flashing, alarm light on dash off, fob does nothing.

Any other ideas anyone what could be causing my alarm andcentral locking woes, guess could be totally knackered ?
