Think he means a reducer on the end of the intercooler itself John Right, BALLS ACHE... Started at 10am and finished about 45 mins ago as I was running out of light. The Intercooler is in place after so much faffing about, I've tried to mount it in such a way that the pipework wont sit lower than the bumper (I can only just get up my driveway and its not lowered!) Sketched out a bracket design (its held on with bolts/cable ties at the moment) and going to get them made up on monday, hopefully make something to support it from beneath too. Lots of bumper cutting, knuckle cutting, swearing and faffing but its alright so far. Fingers crossed that the pipework goes on just as smoothly (who am I kidding!!!) Right, after a week of driving round without the sodding thing plumbed in.. its on Scared myself silly when one of the pipes decided to blow off on the Main DC going towards Peterborough Town Centre : I've used hardly any pipework so have a lot left, will see if anyone wants any on here before flogging them on ebay Will post up pictures as soon as I take them, doesn't sit any lower, so I'm chuffed I can still get up my driveway. Nor did I have to cut the towing eye. Dan

only had to use 1 cable tie and its 10mm wide and holding up up the main pipe underneath going into the turbo Matt, did you find you got a lot more induction noise (sharp spoolup/whistling noise) once you got the fmic on? Thanks by the way Johna, its a lot of hassle and the bumper will need to be cut considerably due to how wide it is. Brackets gonna have to come back off soon as its hardened steel and starting to oxidise (needs painting), so I'll show how I've routed the pipework from the IC to the turbo so people get a better idea as to whats what Dan

and guess what happened after I posted that... A pipe blows off leaving me stranded on a dual carriageway Now its just popping off as soon as I put my foot down, its the standard S pipe to the inlet system thats coming off. The Jubilee clip is done up super tight and still it keeps popping off, any ideas how to get round it? Dan

I was thinking a chemical metal bead around the end of the pipe to create a lip, what you think? or is that overkill, I've heard you can use cheap hairspray or glue to stop it from coming off?

Thats essentially a slightly bigger version of what I'm already using! Still not holding, really need to lip out the pipe somehow. Dan

I had a local engineering company weld a bead around my pipes and then sand them down slightly.

I'm surprised it's popping off. My FMIC pipes dont have any beading on them and mine don't pop off. You could try a mattB and use hairspray to give you the wetness to get the pipes on and once that has gone off, you get a nice sticky texture which may help it hold on.

Dan'
Any pictures of this? also did you need to buy reducers also? are they 3" to 2.5"? and how many are needed? is one needed for the join of kit pipe to original pipe to turbo?
Thanks in advance, Rob.

thought id bump this thread to say how i fitted my turbo revs cooler.
I couldn't put my hard pipes under the rad support because my cars to low and id only have around 3 inch clearance and a speed bump would mean bye bye hard pipe!. So i took my turbo side around the front of the intercooler and took it behind where your number plate goes on the bumper as there is lots of room for the pipe, then down a tad then around to the turbo, this is abit longer route but you wont have the clearance issue. I'd recommend people buying this intercooler to do this if your car is lowered. The car comes on boost exactly the same time as standard but does feel abit more lively. All in all i think it was a good buy.
