If so, what tyre size are you using?

The reason I ask is, I have 215/35/18 all round at the moment, the fronts are Falken FK452 and the rears are Nankang NS2, I havent changed any of them since I got the car, but when I do I'll be putting Proxes on all round.

OK to the point.

Despite both makes of tyre being the same size, they are actually different. The Nankangs on the rear have a vertical sidewall and fit perfectly and look right, but the Falkens on the front dont have a vertical sidewall, it seems to be stretched over the wheel like they are not wide enough, doesnt quite look right.

So if I get the 215/35/18 Proxes which of the above will they look like, if they are the same as the Falkens I'll get 225/35/18 instead...

Check the tyre specs on the manufacturers website for the recommended rim width. As you say some tyres are designed to give a more stretched look when fitted even though they are the same size. I have Toyo Proxes T1R's 225/40/18 on an 8J rim on my 330 and they look quite stretched.

Just remember that if you increase the tyre width and don't reduce the section you will increase your rolling radius which will give you speedo calibration/ gearing/ wheelarch clearance issues.

35 section will equate to a tiny sidewall height on a 215 tyre. 75mm in fact. Rim width will be critical to tyre selection in this range as will tyre pressure.

Your ride quality must be pants. \:D

Its fine on most roads, the very worst roads are absolutely horrible though.

There is plenty of room to go up to 225/35/18 even with it being lowered, wouldnt go higher than that though, I just want a vertical sidewall with the Proxes and dont know whether to pick 215 or 225.

my wheels are 7.5 wide, the different manucfacturers must measure their tyres differently, as the 215 Falkens are narrower than the 215 Nankangs.

Get 225/35/18 matt.

It will look better and give a better ride aswell. Ok the speedo will be out slightly, but its worth it IMHO.

Thanks Viksson, any pictures you have would be good. I might take some of mine as well to compare the difference, front and rear.
