Quick update a week after getting it back. Loving it, really good to have it back. There were a couple of times while it was away that the thought occurred to me that Joe's little 206 was actually a very sensible car and I was daft to spend so much much on the Coupe. I doubted what I'd done more than a few times, I can tell you. But now I've got it back, it all makes sense. I still love walking up to it, even more now. It's a better drive generally. Less tempramental when cold, just smooth, I'm guessing this can be attributed to the Walbro, fuel filter, wiring mod and recon'd injectors on the fuelling side, and the FMIC and cone on the induction side. All adds up. It's very smooth now and pulls strongly and willingly. Keeping it off high boost until it's been mapped to make sure the fuelling is correct but it's just good to have it back. The suspension improvements have made it a better ride too, it's still not really well-controlled, due to still standard springs and (old) shocks, but the rest of it is great. Holds a nice straight line on the motorway, no wandering and the lack of understeer around roundabouts, for example, is a massive improvement. Can't remember in the write up posts if I mentioned the metal GB rear bushes, if not they went on as well. A great car got even better...

Blimey has it been a week already Hamish, time sure does fly.

Good to hear you're still enjoying your coupe smile

Great write up by the way, a little lacking for paragraphs maybe tongue but very detailed thumb

Lol, just haven't had the time, or the weather, I'll endeavour to get some done this weekend! I can never remember my photobucket login, I'll get organised and get some put up.

900th post so thought I'd celebrate by updating this thread again. First of all, last post above, Joe, I thought you'd put photographs, not paragraphs, so that explains that answer. Came up to Cumbria last night, after work, was knackered but made it. Filled up with V-Power in Handsworth before setting off as there are very few Shell stations up t'north. Think I'm going to try and run it on this stuff exclusively now, it's got to be better than other stuff, and I'm collecting the club points so all good.

The journey up was fine, I'm sure the car is smoother now and definitely much better behaved starting from cold. When I set off it had a full tank and I've noticed ever since purchase that it's smoother changing gear when it has more fuel in. I thought that might be sorted with the fuel system mods but perhaps the fpr is not providing the correct pressure and when the fuel level is low, it's taking a split second to catch up at the rail. Who knows.

It's not running right, as per the 'recommend me a turbo' thread, all the parts are fitted and good, it just needs that Flea map session to make the lost out of it. But I need a clutch first and funds are a touch tight. Patience is in order I think.

Because of wanting to make the fuel last until I get back tomorrow, I took it easy coming up, averaging around 70mph where possible, and going very easy on the throttle pulling away etc. It's reading 3/4 of a tank from brimmed. Not bad for 175 miles. I don't think V-Power is much more than other regular non-plumbo now, and that journey didn't cost as much as it might've.

Anyway, apart from my central locking no longer working, it's fine. I'll try Samsite's advice tomorrow, otherwise it's back on the blower to Joe. Never a bad thing in itself.

Hoping that the journey back down tomorrow is quiet and stone-chip free so I can get back to Brinny for some quality drinking time, it's been a miserable, expensive weekend and I'm going to be knackered on Monday morning. Part of me wishes I hadn't bothered. Bottoms up!

Been a good week or so in the Coupe, various running issues mean I have set the Apexi to 'Off' for the time being, and I'm just taking it very steady. It seems these things do far more than just limit boost, the car runs completely differently with it off, so it'll wait until it goes to Fleas for a proper setup.

Bit of a worrying episode last night, car felt like it was running out of fuel it coughed spluttered, lost power, injector light flashing away, and thought oh lordy. But a quick few texts to Joe (many thanks Joe, it wasn't exactly office hours) and it seems I'm suffering from the yellow connector syndrome. I had read about this a while ago and it just slipped my mind to add it on to the list of things for Joe to do. Typical. One to do this weekend I think, I'm just going to eliminate the connector and join the wires directly. On checking, there was no corrosion as such but due to the fact it was dark, it was hard to see. I disconnected and reconnected the connector several times to make a cleaner contact, and the car seems to run better now generally. I posted a while back that it's not as smooth unless it has more than half a tank of fuel in, but i feel it might be down to this, a proper job this weekend should prove it.

Central locking - the day after I posted above it just started working, and hasn't failed again since, fingers crossed.

Okey doke, 1000th post on here and I suppose that's a great time to celebrate this experience that is owning a Fiat Coupe and being a memeber of this community. Great place to be, great people on here and it really makes the whole driving thing so much fun. I've been a car enthusiast all my life and to find this forum is more than a petrolhead could hope for.

So here's to the forum, and the almighty Fiat Coupe that we all love so much, through good times and bad!

Excellent, nothing like passing the bug on to fellow owners! Many thanks for the comments, Steve, been a bit quiet recently but I've been really busy working to pay for all the parts and labour. Just need to start booking the Spa stuff now, my car has a date to be ready for, onwards!
