Man, I can understand how rotten you feel Sedici. Try to think about how one day it will be repaired and back to it's sexy self again and you can forget about this horrible nasty blot in Coupe ownership.

well, I`ve payed 500$ recently for fixing bonnet with simillar damage and respraying it (custom pearl white with expencive components). If prices in UK are the same, you`ll need around 400$ to sort it. not that much to worry about. but you must get those money from him or his insurance company! good luck

Okay,

After having a look and seeing some CCTV footage, I am just completely amazed. Firstly by the actions of the person responsible, second by the police but most seriously by my beautiful car!

She took the full impact with surprising lack of damage??

The bonnet has buckled in but does not appear to be distorted inside, if so not majorly.

I am going to try and contact the guy who did the re-spray and get up to see him tomorrow but its a long long way.

Is this a repairable damaged bonnet?

Its funny Stan as watching the tape of the event happening at 3:38 two kids and a mother cross about 30 seconds before the van starts to go.

As its clear what has happened, what sort of charge would he face?

Well, first he should have been breathalysed and the vehicle checked. Because damage has been done to a 3rd party I'd have thought he would be dealt with under Regulation 107 (1) Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, and Section 42 Road Traffic Act 1988 which is basically "quitting without stopping engine and setting brake". The offence is complete even if the engine is stopped.
Also Section 22 Road Traffic Act 1988 "leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position".
Might even have thrown in a criminal damage charge too.

Nick - really sorry to hear about this - must be maddening to see someone's stupidity causing damage to your pride and joy

However, that damage is trivial - really, its almost nothing.

John at Euroeast has repaired two of my wife's cars with bigger wing dents than that

(note, that's two cars that have belonged to my wife, not cars that belong to two of my wives ;\) )

Stop worrying, and make sure the idiot pays dearly

Christ you have been a very lucky boy, you say the coupe moved two feet...was this down to a crap handbrake or the force of the impact? whatever happens I hope you manage to sort this lovely coupe out and get it back to the same level as before. I think you have just shown how proud of this car you are and I also think it was lucky you were not about when this happened as you would probably be up for GBH. Good luck mate.

Sorry to hear it mate..... did you call the police to report it or go into a station?
If you do want to report it then it might be worth taking note of the points Stan has mentioned and attending your local station to report so when they try and fob you off you can say but what about blah blah and blah, you might get a self reporting form to fill out with the details.
Tbh if you called them i'm not suprised they didn't come out since it was a damage only with no injuries, good luck and try not to let the van owners stupid comments get to you!

Cheers
John
