My previous post was deleted thanks to good old fashioned British censorship. I'm not gonna retype the whole thing from scratch - this is just an update for those who saw my post before it was removed.

Went for 3rd party insurance, £620. Full comp was going to be £800 thanks to an outstanding claim which wasn't my fault.

Other party claims it was my fault and has asked for damages to the value of £11,000 (physical injury and other similar nonsense).

at least you're covered, that's the main thing. You can appreciate what response you're likely to guess if you post "I'm not going to buy compulsory insurance" on any line, especially motor on this forum (as this is a forum about cars).

It's not worth the penalty/points/problems to drive uninsured. Simple as that.
