On a related point (to the thread title) I was looking at a 612 Scaglietti the other day and thinking how many styling cues were similar between the two cars (No, I'm not pretending I have a "secret ferrari" just noting some similarities in appearance). Overall shape, front lights, rear lights, etc..... I absolutely love the 612 - I know not everyone does, but I think they're a fantastic-looking car. Would have one at the drop of a hat if they were affordable!

That ferrari coupe looks dreadful!
But I do agree with you Cappo, the 612 seems to resemble the coupe in some ways. It has definaly grown on me though, didn't like it much when it came out. It's not as in your face as most other Ferrari's, but I suspect it will age very well. Much like the 456.

That fiat farrari is a mess it looks like a "Fisher-Price" My First Farrari" The only decent thing i've seen was the mr2 kit to make it look like a farrari. MR2 in Wolves Clothing It's still a little like padding your underwear with socks...

Why have they glued pieces of exhaust pipe to the rear lights?
And the rest? Dear lord...

I had one come up beside me in Edinburgh the other day, gorgeous car and looks like what I imagine would be a very nice evolution of our Coupé if it were still in production . Baz

There's more pics by thumbnail here. Not to my taste. Looks far to square at the back, and weird at the front. And the Coupe, although a gorgeous looking car, is not a Ferrari!

612 is to heavy, Ferrari seem intent on trying to make barges for rockstars, its sad considering the amount of great, lightweight Ferraris they have made that they are now resorting to AMG tactics to make fast cars.

That is just bloody awful. Saying that, I remember seeing a Testerosa (spelling?) a few months back and boy, did it look dated and awful, really kit-car looking and boxy (it was not a kit car, as I know it to be a genuine ferrari).

I decided to look this thread up (actually I just searched for one like it). So the first pic is from Poland (sorry, really for what people of my nation sometimes can do lol... but it does say on the site "beautiful peasant-tuning" which means basically USA-speaking "riced", or UK - "chavved up"). Anyways - I always thought of doing the following: 1. Making over a Fiat Coupe to look like a Ferrari (no bodykits, it just looks like one without it, but put Ferrari badges or DINO badges from 246 on it) 2. Making over a VW (golf, polo or something) to look like a Porsche 3. Getting a Grande Punto and putting a Maserati badge on the front Would you all consider these a blasphemy? I think of it as better than 355s made of MR2s, because Fiat owns Ferrari and Maserati. Also, look at it this way: there was a Fiat Dino.

Better of starting with a Mk2 MR2 if you want to build a fake ferrari.

A neibour used to own a white countach. It looked great and whenever it was parked in town people would gather around it. Then it started up and err.. that familiar sounding 4 Cylinder Boxer engine was there. As a 12 year old kid I was not fooled ! - even then I though how embarrasing that must have been.

How about Dino badges from the 246 GT? Wouldn't that be a cool tribute to Ferrari-Fiat connection? Cos id NEVER build a fake Ferrari over an MR2 or Fiero... But I would try to build a nice Ferrari Replica on the Coupe. Cos this fake F50 is a disgrace to Fiat, Ferrari AND my country lol - but it failed cos a Coupe should be madeover to look like another Ferrari, maybe 550 - its headlights look like Coupe's (a bit) - then just change the rear and the wheels. voila. How about other stuff I proposed, is it also a blasphemy?

If they wanted a fiat/ferrari tribute they would have made one. . . maybe thats just me . . .bho

one for all you coupe / ferrari lovers courtesy of you tube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoubluGwhv0&feature=related Shame really, two tone paint job aside (which IMO doesnt suit the lines of the coupe, mainy noticeable on the C pillar where theres no natural 'join' or cut off) the car looks in fairly decent nick, and looked after.

The simple truth is: the coupe is a Fiat, not a Ferrari. It is sufficient in and of itself. Why try and pass it off as something it's not? Beautifully said.
