Hello and How I use my Coupe #517897

Hi all,

I'm Julia and I love my car. I bought it new in 1997 when I had more money than sense and have used and abused it ever since. Sometimes I clean it and sometimes a very nice Polish man at the gym cleans it for me. Usually though it is dirty. Unfortunately the abuse is now starting to show and my poor car is beginning to complain about the lack of TLC over the past 11 years. My children have thrown up in it, I have shopped in it, shagged in it and really cannot bring myself to sell it. So, I am throwing myself at your collective mercies in the hope you can inspire me to look after my car better.

I currently need a new front wheel as I damaged the current one by hitting a curb while trying to find my lipstick. Where is a good supplier for new wheels?

Do you think I am a lost cause?

Help and correction needed.

Julia \:\)

What a great post!! \:D

You'd be better getting a 2nd hand wheel from carlt.

Try carlt on here for a new 'used' wheel, should be plentiful for the 20v n/a. Otherwise eBay, or perhaps Fiat but they'll rip you off mercilessly!

And welcome by the way \:\)

Thanks Chaps, this really is a fast and furious service. I could get used to this. I'll give Carl a call tomorrow \:\)

The man in the garage has hit the inside of the wheel with a hammer to stop the air escaping from the tyre. This seems to have worked in the short term but I'm not sure if the 'hitting with a hammer' trick is the best permanent fix. Want do you think?

erm probably not!!!
just give carlt a bell and he'll sort you out, you'll need to specify which style of wheel you have though.
you'll find most of us really friendly on here and the forum is full of helpful people and information

Roof Abuse

What is it with Fiat paintwork? The lacquer on the roof of my coup looks like I've spayed it with nail varnish remover (and I haven't by the way). Who is the King of Paint Jobs here in the South?

Welcome Julia. Here's a tip for a newbie, be weary of anyone with their name in green, especially JimO and Stan. They're just trouble. ;\)

Thanks for the welcome Kenno and the link. Do I really need to beware of the green men or are you just trying to pull my newbee leg?

I'm serious, they have 'special powers'.. and congrats, you're only one of two that have had their coupé from new (that I know of).

nobody who buys the turbo version from new seems to keep it for 11 years.

instead they get through 3 or 4, kill an engine or two, and end up with a nice plus or LE \:D

*falls off chair*

I can hardly believe this, surely there must be more. I can still remember the day I drove it off the forecourt and I thinking 'yes, you did good girl'. It was a close run thing between the Fiat and the Alfa GTV for me at the time, but I had recently seen a play featuring Agnelli I took that to be the omen to buy the Fiat, and have never looked back since \:\)

Nope, see my post above \:D

most other N/A owners decide that they want a turbo after a while too!

I didn't but a turbo on environmental grounds. I was thinking of trees at the time...or hair or make up or nail colour or something else that just stopped me shelling out another two grand, when all I was interested in was how pretty it looked on the outside \:\)

Hi Jules, a big welcome from "Downunder". I know that the first time I saw a Coupe "in the flesh" in Norway, I decided then that I had to have one.

"I'm Julia and I love my car"

Quite an interesting first line from a first post. I like it.

Makes it sound like you're an alcoholic, fessing up at an AA meeting.

In case you hadn't noticed, all girls get serious amounts of attention on this forum ;\)
