Probably not the right section for this - so im hoping to buy a 20VT tomorrow - thought id run an HPi check on it.

Punch the number plate it in and it recognises it as a Peugeot 2500CC 1998!

I know its the right number plate as i have big photos of the Fiat with this plate on it.

I put the plate in to direct line insurance quote and it says 'Vehicle not found'

Is something wrong? Should i be worried or are there often issues with the registration of number plate / make model of cars?

Not sure if anyone is still awake at this time and on here ... we'll see...

I fink someone has made a boo-boo with the number plate........

S255 KGX

Date of Liability 01 08 2008
Date of First Registration 01 08 1998
Year of Manufacture 1998
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1998CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £99.00
12 Months Rate £180.00

Now that is coupé ;\)

I wonder if the car has had new number plates made up ready for selling and someone has had a moment of temporary dyslexia?

Easy way to check: look at the V5C and the owners handbook/service book.

I'd be amazed, although not surprised, if this vehicle has been running around on the wrong plates since it was first registered.

In fact I've just looked at the photos and yes, they are new plates: look at how clean they are and the fact that the rear one has the GB *Euro* marking on it, which we didn't have in 1998.

Mwhahahahahahahaha!! The seller will have to fork out for new plates before it can be legally used on the road! \:D

Stan was spot on. The car had been on private plates most of its life and the famed '1 owner' kept the private plate - and when someonoe made the plates they did them wrong!

The V5 and MoT all had the correct plate that Stan identified.
