When buying i felt like i was getting a bargain, am just wondering what you guys think this is worth, and if its worth more than i paid. It cost me £5200 (totally over stretched and blew my budget as i thought it was a good price, am hoping someone here can confirm)

MOT/Serviced till March next year, tax out at the end of the month

Year 2000 plus
66k on the clock
warranty replacement engine, turbo and clutch 18k ago. (oil cooler pipes failure)**

** now the recipt says recon engine, paid up by warranty holdings, now the seller says as far as he knew it was a new engine, BUT it does say recon. there is no mention of possible milage on the engine before hand, but surely a warranty company wouldnt put an old engine on a car???)**
according to aome people on here, fiat DID supply some new engines badged as recons.

it drives superbly BUT the niggles.

poorly repaired stone chip on the front bonnet (a 1 inch wide touch up paint right on the end of the bonnet - no dent)

some warbling on both the rear lower back light tunnels

some warbling on the black part of the A pillar - under the 20vt badge - only minor

a small (missed it when buying) crease on the drivers side door right at the end of the door - looks like someone opened the door into a wall and just caught the edge of the doot - can only see in certain light at the right angle.

other than that a few stone chips.

it looks in really good nick at a normal look over, i am being VERY critical. (the miltek is off the yellow peril, so didnt come with the car - not on pics!)

Get all those little things done when it's in to get the spoiler removed....! Probably cost 500-750 and you'd still have a decent car. \:\)

As for the engine, it's almost certainly a re-con.

well recon isnt really a problem so long as its rebuilt properly i dont mind, however is there any way to find out the milage on said engine?

ps whilst THAT spoiler certianly would be my choice i actually like a spoiler on the coupe.

also unless i put some extra mods on the car, i cant remove it as its the only thing which allowed me to transfer my policy.

Er, no, don't think so.....

Ask Paul, JBT or Carl though, for a definitive answer.

Mike... A recon engine is deifferent to a second hand one. Most car manufactures nowadays only sell 'exchange' engines (plus g/boxes, axels etc etc)

If the unit was a genuine Fiat exchange unit the engine must be sold 'like new'. This means all internals would have only been bench tested. You will have a minimum 12 month warranty from fiat on the engine.

If the engine is second hand...well it could have been to pluto and back and not had the oil checked \:D

wow.... my cars were in the garage getting the exhausts swapped. The mechanic said in the 12 hours they had the car on site, 2 traders tried to buy the yellow one.

he swears blind after giving it the once over that i should be able to buy it back for around £500 and thinks if i slip it on the bay i should get £1500 for it.

At the very least he said looknig at the engine, that alone is worth £500 to £700.

i think i will phone him back and see if i can get the traders contact details if he knows them.#

i can always grease his palms with £100 if it leads to a sale.

ps computers are down which is why am posting on here..... (just incase my boss reads :D)
