Following my crash post i am going to start preparing evidence for challenging the insurance pay-out (hopefully wont have to,but realistically i think i will).
People have suggested i print out adverts for LEs and copy paperwork showing work done receipts etc, is there anything else i should be doing in the meantime?
Hoping to hear back from the insurers with an offer in the next week or so...

Go to the salvage yard and get the tax disc out of the car for any refund, plus stereo etc if you can

Paperwork wise, if you don't get an acceptable offer, you need to send the originals not copies:

all receipts for parts and maintenance (including recent tyres etc)
service book
V5
plus adverts

...make copies of everything you send and use recorded delivery. Do not sign anything unless happy and if you are not accepting their offer, call the claims handler asap as you normally have only a limited time to turn it down (7 days IIRC) and whatever you do, do not cash the cheque!

I just got paid out for my written off LE - not in quite the same state as yours though.
I did have some problems with the claims department because their car search showed it up as a standard 20VT - even with a 5 speed box.
I sent in a load of adverts from Autotrader and Pistoneads -(including the one at 10k \:o ) but they weren't interested because they were convinced it was a standard car. In the end, they called Fiat, who confirmed that the car was an LE - and the payout was increased. I guess you'll just need to be persitent if you get the same problem.
Oh yes - echo what Vickster says about recorded delivery. I didn't think about it - and it looked like it had been lost for bout 10 days before they finally "found" it in a pile on someones desk...

Don't forget that Howard has everything that's been done, at the garage, to your car on the computer, so if you need any duplicates of receipts for work done, then give him a ring \:\)

not sure at the moment, its moved from Bacford in Chester apparently, i assume its gone to another yard where it doesnt cost the insurance as much to keep it there.
