I know I have seen this somewhere but before I get the hammer out am I right in think you basically just force the factory gear knob off. I can't see any retainers of any sort.

Planing on replacing it with a momo

At least you dont have to deal with the good ol' lift reverse problem!!

hammer and screwdriver did it for me, ripped the gear knob into about 3 piece's removing it, i also cut down the stick a bit as when you mount the new gear knob on it doesnt sit straight due to an additional extra bit of metal that was used to hold the old gear knob on

Try a large openended spanner under the knob, and hit upwards with a hammer. Should come off with very little damage.
