Does the speedo or performance of the 20vt be affected with 17" alloys?
also will a 98x4 with a 35 ofset fit?
Thanks

Depends on the wheel itself whether it will fit, even with the correct offset with some designs I believe you will still need spacers, I've been checking myself and had some disappointing results with crazy prices. You need to make sure, I'm sure someone off here can tell you exactly, that the 17" tyre has the same rolling circumferance/diameter/radius as the 16" tyre. Hope this helps. Dave

Just tried this one: http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.htmlWorked out that 225/40/17 is only 1mm different to 205/50/16's. Hope this helps. Dave

better off going for 215/40 17 as I've found that 225/40 are much rarer and more expensive as an unusual size. I run 17" Azev E with 98 x 4 and 35 offset. They cleared the calipers but not by much so I also have 5 mm spacers in situ to allow for slight wheel flex. Any 17" tyre with a 40 sidewall will give you an accurate speedo though!

Thats not true. The '40' is a ratio of sidewall dimension to tyre width, so if your tyre is 205mm wide the sidewall will be smaller, therefore the rolling radius will be smaller, than on a 225mm tyre. The correct size in 17's is 225/40/17. 215/40/17's result in 1.1% difference which will be OK too

That's what I thought too that the height of the sidewall is, kinda difficult to write! If the width is 225 and the aspect ratio is 40 then the height of the sidewall is 40% of the width of the tyre. There, had a durr moment there. Dave

I stand corrected
Might there be a risk of slight rubbing though with 225 all round depending on your arch liners?!?

does that mean 205/40 will make the speedo incorrect?

According to the calculator it is just within, thing is if your tyres are worn anyway then this will make your speedo out so if your tures are nearly bald and youput these on brand new they should give roughly the same reading as knackered standard size tyres. Dave

205 40 17 looks really stupid on the coupe, way to small. The size you want is 215 40 17 it's the closest you will get to the origional and the best for grip And i have to say 5 spokes are the best suited wheel for the coupe

What ever any body says they only way you will know if a wheel fits a 20VT is if someone else has them or an alloy retailer is perpared to order a set to be offered up to the wheel and if it doesn't fit you don't have to buy(This will not happen, as they will be left with a wheel thats only suitable for a rare car).
Don't mess around with photoshops and get your hopes up only to find they don't fit.Im speaking from experience here. I repeat offsets and tyre sizes all mean nothing, every wheel is different you have to try for real to be sure.
