I'm looking to get an new exhaust for my plus, i want a cat back full stainless system with either a 3" or slash cut pipe. I saw Edsters one on his car (its a longlife jobbie) and i really like it but its £329 for the standard exit pipe (so it would be more for the oval slash cut) I was also looking at the power fiat systems - they seem good vfm, but come out at an angle (i'd prefer it to be straight) when i spoke to rog he said he was looking at slash cut exits (i'd need to see a pic) I have also contacted Milktec & hayward & scott - but they both want over £400 notes for it I don't want it to sound loud/boomy (i like the standard noise) What can i get I only want a cat back system, nota de cat as i'm not really planning to mod the car. Any pics ? (there were loads on the old forum before it died) plus if they fit with what i'm looking for (i really only want to pay £300 tops really)

Craig - like many others I can vouch for Rog's Pipecraft jobbie @ £220 fitted. Looks pretty stock with the 3" rolled tailpipe which fits the std valance and sound is deep but subtle.

All the 1 box systems, Peco, Scorpion, Cybox et al are loud and boomy at 2000rpm. Ive got a Scorpion and its too loud for me. If you want more refinement I think you have to go Miltek or CSC from AutoIntegrale.

I've got the Scorpion and it's definitely louder than standard but I love it. Cosmograph, what are you driving around at 2000rpm for?

Craig, check out the raggazone. Not loud but a very nice v8 sound. And it is stainless steel.
Cheers,

I've noticed it too at 50mph in 5th. Still a quick downchange to 3rd usually sorts the problem. It can be useful for muting the OBCD though

I've noticed a few people on here saying they have a custom exhuast. Where could I get a custom exhaust made up? or is this a kind of "i have a friend who did it" kinda job? Just wondering cause i love the look i've seen a couple of times, a 4 exit exhaust, 2 on each side of the rear bumper. The nearest i can find to thi as an example is at: Example > I definatly dont want those upturned exhasts tho!

You could probably get away without the centre pipe, but I think it's alot easier to fit if you get both parts.

well ok thats another £500 thing i can add to my list of wants for the car.
I think i made a list which came to just over £3000 of things i wanted for the coop. (bodykit, coilovers, alloys and Toyos, EBC, uprated fuel pump, Exhaust, Dump valve, chip) i think i've missed something there but thats my sort of shopping list. Damn and i didn even think of uprated brakes disks and pads. Anyone got any cash lying around?

this is best place to get raggazzon exhausts from in the uk. Gazzella
I had one of these before but now have a powerfiat special purely because of price. I am very happy with it so far, just roam the streets looking for tunnels. Tip: if you're in london go on waterloo bridge coming north then right hand lane will take you to the kingsway/aldwych underpass tunnel

sorry to bump this up, is the PF one quite loud I don't want a loud exhaust or one that drones (tbh I like the noise the car makes as standard) also how many boxes do they have ? as i heard that 1 box systems drone a bit. the ragazzon one looks nice, any pics of one fitted to a car ? only thing is they are 4" exit & i only really want 3.

Craig. They all drone at about 2K revs if they only have a single rear silencer. Thats why your OE exhaust has two silencers. If you want a drone free and standardish sound you need to go for the Miltek or CSC from Auto Integrale.

I have the PF one fitted and I'm very happy with it It was very loud at first, I set car alarms off down my road which wasn't popular with my neighbour After a month it had bedded in and is now just a nice burble at tickover, changing to a howl at higher revs. As mentioned in other posts, it does drone a bit around 2k rpm but even this has lowered in volume and isn't obtrusive to my ears Here's a couple of photos: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/gringojimi/ex017.jpghttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/gringojimi/ex018.jpg

what about powerflow one, you can specify the loudness to a degree...the one ive got on my coupe seems to be a custom jobbie with a nice burble at tickover and in early gears but you cant hear it hardly when crusing on the motorway which is perfect for me, can comment on the price though as it was fitted when i bought the car

I've just had a PF cat-back fitted inn place of the standard exhaust - did notice it was a bit louder, but not excessively. Also, it doesn't seem to drone at all, so maybe I'm lucky!

Peter,I have heard bad things about powerflow, I have heard that the pipes can rust even though its only been on the car for a year (this is because the pipes aren't the same grade steel as the boxes) Truffle-the cat back system sourced by PF is £220 (bargain) JimO - cheers for that mate I just looked at Gringo's pics (he beat me to it, so I don't have to ask James) The PF one is nice, but I want it to come out the back of the car & not the side, I know Rog is sorting out a slash cut exit one, so I might get one of those. I'm glad that they settle down after a month, as I hate loud exhausts. Gringo - did you notice any thing different when you had it fitted ? was there smoother throttle response etc ? how loud is it over the standard exhaust ?

Just to confuse you even more, I have a CSC system. Quite easy to fit, (getting the old rusty system off was a hassle).
Plus sides, sounds pretty standard, slightly deeper note, quiet inside the car, fit was pretty much perfect.
Downside, only one that I can think of the exit is at an angle like a lot of the aftermarket systems.
I used to have a Ragazzon system on my Punto GT, it was excellent, and would def recommend them, if the PGT was anything to go by. I'm even considering a spring time treat for the single outlet stainless system from Gazella/Ragazzon, if only to gain longer life, a little more noise, and a straight outlet on the system.

Craig, Its prob only a few db louder than the standard one in normal driving conditions. Low revs and at idle it really picks out the 5 pot thrum of the engine, very nur quattro Higher rpm the note is much different to standard - I now hear exhaust rather than engine noise. Which is the only part I miss over the standard exhaust In a nutshell, its not an overly loud system (compared to other aftermarket 20VT systems I've heard) and does make it sound more like a sports car. The price for the quality is excellent. I suppose it may have improved throttle response a teeny bit. I think the turbo spools up slightly earlier, but it prob just 'feels' like it does

Does anybody do a twin exit exhaust for a 20VT as in a single or twin pipe out each side. I know Powerflow will build one special to your own style but every one of theirs I have seen so far seems a bit Maxpower.

Cheers for the reply Gringo. I'm considering getting the PF spourced one, but in a slash cut exit. The only thing thats wrong with my current standard exhaust is the back box (its almost knackered & has previously been strapped up) the pipes are fine.

hey guys.. currently a stock 20vt coupe...with HKS BOV and Apexi air-filter installed... gona change the exhaust system next! will be a straight flow exhaust system... the question is, for a coupe of such settings, what is the best exhaust piping diameter should be? 2.5", 2.75" or 3"?
no intention of bringing it to above 300bhp...
Thanks and regards..

any one got a pic of the slash cut exit PF one ? I'm still un decided which exhaust to get the back box is the only thing that knackered (so I could just buy a new back box) but I might as well get a cat back s/s one any way ! at least that way i know it won't rust.

Well made, good fit as it's bespoke and a good price.
Is that £220 including fitting?

Rog - Are you getting them to make you a new exhaust, or can they modify your existing exhaust? If they can do your existing I may get mine slash cut next time I come to see you.

I'll be looking forward to those pics so I can decide which one to go for.
I'll probably book a day off work, and come visit Basildon for the day while its fitted.

if sound is an issue then you can have an additional 2nd silencer for an extra £40.
so a twin box stainless steel straight thru system would be £260 with rolled or slash cut exit.
Rog, with that deal and inclusion of the second box you have sorted my problems too. My Supersprint is on the way out and like Craig have been looking for a near standard sounding system but in stainless. Up to this point it looked like I woul have to go with the standard Fiat mild steel affair. Expect a few orders

Cheers for that Rog. I'd love to see a pic of it, as i much prefer slash cut exits to the normal one's (if you can't get a pic - maybe I could see it before it got fitted to the car?) to decide if i'll like it or not (yes i'm fussy) If I did go for another box (so its got two) would it affect the performance of the car (i know that just changing the exhaust on a car can imporve it, but on some cars it can also go the other way & restrict them) I'm not after any gains in power from the exhaust, as I realise its only a cat back. Would it be a replica of the existing exhaust thats on the car ? I prob looking to get the exhaust sorted in the next month or so. Craig.

Adder58, Did you get a cat back? How loud is it on/off boost? Also, how long did it take? 20 questions eh!

1 I have existing cat, only mid end rear section fitted. 2 Not that loud both on and off boost, no nasty droning when on motorway, but may get louder once i've done a few miles. I don't like loud and right now it sound's just right, bit racey but not over the top 3 2-3 hours
PS It feel's like the coupe is pulling better in the high rev's (i.e boost) compared to the supersprint

I've just heard Adders new exhaust and it definantly sounds very nice. it has a nice growl to it, without being too boy racerish.

are there any better pics of the pf slash cut exhaust ? I looked on the pf website, but they aren't on it. From the pics it looks a sort of goldy colour, not silver

My pf exhaust turned gold pretty quickly indeed. It was fine from Powerfiat to scooby's house (nice and shiny silver). But after driving in one of Scooby's quite quick convoys the poor exhaust got so hot it turned gold

like i say to all buyers, it needs a monthly polish with autosol to keep the chrome look. stainless will dis-colour with heat. jsut like the milltek's, they all go gold until polished. ill post pictures in a min on this thread.
