The car is indeed amazing but at your age i doubt insurance companies would go near you on a 20vt.

Just to add, dont forget the coupe is a group 20 insurance car. The insurance company will feel that u are gaurenteed to have an accident in it in the year.

I was 22 when bought mine & had a nightmare insuring it.
Most companies will have a age limit on the coop 22+,25+ etc.Or you'll need a certain amount of no claims bonus.
To be honest only being 18 the insurance premium will be massive & it ain't worth paying silly money for insurance.
Get something cheaper to insure, save up the pennies & when you've got full no claims bonus splash out on a car then.
I know it's so annoying that you can afford to buy the car but insurance is just a pain in the arse.

At 20, with one fault accident, pass plus, and driving since I was 17, i got insured with elephant for 1200, I have no idea how you'll get insured on anything remotely like a Coupe turbo at your age. Sorry I cant be of more help, I would of gotten one myself earlier if insurance was doable at that age.

Age is the obvious no no.

I'd get at least one years no claims and do your IAM test.

Only other option would be if you were the 2nd driver to someone else and obviously not the main driver...

Yep - it hurt me but I drove sheds for the first few years after passing my test, to build up experience and some NCB. The quotes were just ridiculous.

Not the answer you want - but unless you can afford about £4k a year on insurance, I'd go the same way.

Look on the bright side, they'll be even cheaper in a year or two when the insurance is cheaper for you ;\)

My advice is, buy a hot hatch or something, enjoy that, and get your no claims up. It'll be silly money and it's a bit of a rapid car for a relatively new driver (not saying you aren't a good driver though) Just thinking of coupecraig and the nightmare he had trying to find a quote that wasn't insane!

Coopless!

blimey thats good, did u have no claims?

my 16vt (with 0 no claims bonus) was £1200 in the first year and now about £800 in this my second year (cant remember the exact amount) hoping it'll drop to below £500 for the next year as i'll be 25 and have 2 years no claims (touch wood)

thanks for the advise. ive had a quote from the AA for £208 a month. little bit steep at the mo and its only third party but im getting a new job soon so should be able to save a bit of money and buy my coupe in the summer! il have one years no claims then and 2 years driving experience. ive had a fiat punto 1.6 90 elx for the last 10 months but im getting a little bored of it now. hence looking for a coupe.

elephant are probably best, they do great deal for one off payments but rip you a new arsehole when u try to pay monthly. I got quoted 735 for the 10 months accelerater ona 20vT n im 21 but with 9 points and a claim so not bad at all but then when i request to pay monthly it was a 256 deposit and 9 instalments of 102 nearly doubling it!!!

Yes Truffle 3 years NCB and a few of them spent in a Sedici Tipo which irronically being a few groups lower and a little slower is more to insure than my Coop! The hot hatch tag still brings insurance companies money in!

10 month policy suggests Elephant who don't like mods (wouldn't even cover a strutbrace)...and tony16vt, there's no need to shout ;\)

Ive been getting some decent quotes off Admiral. After my birthday (1 weeks time) the premium is around a grand. Which I think is reasonable.
2 years driving experience
2 year no claims.
