Depends if you mean all the engine work, turbo manifold etc.. or if you mean the whole car since i've had it?

Think he's refering to the work on this engine rebuild??
Mine must have cost between 3500-4000 so yours has gotta be into 5000+??
Have you had to buy: cams, pistons , rods, turbo, manifold?
that would be close to 3000 i'd have thought??

the actual engine work or the whole project. No need to be so simple. Sounded like a fair question.

Ok, make it simple.

1st, how much have you spent on the whole car?
2nd, how much have you spent on the new parts for the 400bhp project?

give people an idea of what they need to bdget it they plan a mental re-build!

cams = under 50e
pistons = standard are good for 400hp
rods = also
turbo = mitsu evo titanium 450e
manifold = home made = 100e
600e total..
thats something around 550pounds

Wind your neck in and get that chip off your shoulder there Paddy, i was not being smart with anyone. There is no point in me saying i've spent X amount, when Marco wanted to know Y amount instead, savvy?

1. Approx 12k (could be more)
2. Not entirely sure, but would guess it is getting to around 8k mark, maybe more, I've not sat down to work all the costs out, but it's something like this:

New crank and shells - £450
CP Pistons - £500
Rods - £80 and then £200 refrub
Spare block - £100
Flex hone - £80
Cams - £600
Various GC work - Not to be published.
Spesso Head gasket - £190
Helix 6 paddle clutch - £600
Vernier pullies - £190
Exhaust manifold - £450
GT3076 Turbo - £650
Tial 38mm Ext Wastegate - £110
Motec M48 Pro - £800
New engine gasket set - £60
2nd fuel pump, lines and external fittings - £250
Spare flywheel - £80

Im sure there is other things, but can't think of them off the top of my head, but that lot add's up to over 5k for a start

and there were some bargain purchases in there (Motec less than half new price), and other prices will have risen dramatically due to change in exchange rate between £ and Euro

To replicate would cost a LOT more now

Nice Begbie.. keep us posted and hope to see her on the streets soon

nyssa7.. It's the same case with me.. I've been buying items for my Coupè that I am building for the last 2.5 years and currency exchange fluctuations have disturbed my excel sheet a lot \:D

Crikey thats a lot of cash Begbie - mind you I'd hate to add up the costs of what I've spent on my coupe.

One things for certain though, I'm sure I've saved a few quid buying some second hand parts \:\)

yeah that euro lark suddenly makes my bacci stuff wildly priced. Good for exports I guess. Hey beggars imagine that cam belt hadnt turned out so well that'll bump it up, I still reckon your numbers are conservative.
