Just be aware as it has no protection, the FMIC will get damaged. My old one was damaged due to salt and stones. Just be aware.

Well that's certainly different ! I like the idea of improving the air flow to the FMIC (it's why I have the PIU bumper on mine ), but I would be a little concerned about stone protection, as Ross has mentioned . Also, the FMIC looks great now, but when it gets covered in cr@p, it is going to be a real sod to keep clean. I'd also be interested to know how you are going to mount the front number plate . Going for the Alfa look, I guess . Looks like a very neat install though! Phil

I'm not too keen on it tbh (it reminds me of when loads escort & fiesta rs turbo owners when through a stage of doing that to their front bumpers) The bumper will be pretty useless in a crash too tbh I think it would look better if it still had the section under the grill (I realise that the intercooler would be less exposed) but in my opinion it would look better

The idea in general is perfect and your FMIC will be happy However, as previously mentioned, the protection is important.. you should be working out a suitable front grill to protect the FMIC from stones and road surprises The car looks great, the last 2 photos are

Front bumper isn't my taste but certainly looks a quality job, just like the rest of the car! Have you had a full respray? Looks very clean
picture too large; max size allowed is 300 x 100 pixels, please resize 2000X 20VT+

to your credit as zak says the quality looks spot on , the escort and fiesta comments are a bit harsh i feel as they tended to have a really poor job done, yours look very professional... personnnally i think it would have looked better with out the cut out, or at least something at the top, so it was still cut out but not completly... still its your car and if you are happy thats all that matters love everything else though

Dont get me wrong, the work you have done is impressive (contact number please) but after having to get an intercooler replaced im just a tad wary. What you should do is create a very fine mesh to cover the intercooler, to protect from stones. Also.... dont mean to scare... but i presume you have thought about vandals?

Cheers for the thoughts guys!
@ Mariusz. I'm not sure what i'm gonna do with the rear bumper yet. Considering a 360 lip but thinking it may be too deep.
@ Zak. As far as i know it is still the original paint. The bloke i bought it off had it in mint condition. Always garaged and poished regularly. I've got some weird branded polish off my dads pal (car nut who has old e-type jags, morgans, old ferrari testorosa's and has special polish that he has to apply by hand) That seems to be brilliant!! Try and polish it at least once a month
Hyper. What do you mean about vandalism? I suppose any car that stands out from the crowd is suspect to damage. Don't think its at risk any more than if it had standard cad bumper on it.
Also i have seen your posts recently about your cooler having a big hole in it. I think that was more down to bad luck mate. I've got pals who have got Evo's, rx7 and gt4 with partly exposed coolers at the front and they havent had any problems. Always try to stay back from the car im front.
I understand the comments about the rs turbo look. In the flesh tho the bumper looks better than i was expecting. Makes the car look mean and has much more presence in the rear view mirror!
Not sure if cutting away the part in the middle of the bumper has helped the FMIC function any better but it surely hasn't hindered it.
Really pleased with the look! Now considering a different grill from yourself Mariusz. Although i rekon the standard grill with its horizontal slats on it suits the car at the moment. Variety being the spice of life tho.
P.s. Not sure if its just me but Waow!! the SIP and Apexi filter makes some noise!

Pinin. Thats a bit harsh!
Why do you class my car as Barried?
There is no big exhaust, clear lights, tints etc.
Most high pefromance cars have nice shiny coolers out the front of their car. The only difference is mine is not hidden behind some mesh. ThePro Alloy one is a quality piece of kit so why not show it off?
Just because my car is different than the other coupes on here doesn't make it barried.

Pinin,
No worries mate. I appreciate its not to everyones taste.
Although if you see the car in the flesh it looks much better and more complete than it does in the pictures.
Many people have said with the wheels and the paint in the colour it is, it looks very expensive and exotic.
I class chav cars as corsas, saxos, 106 etc. These all look very similiar to each other, cheap and have no real style.
I was aiming to make my coupe different from others without going overboard. I think i have achieved this as my car still has the features of the original pinninfarina styling but i believe i have enhanced the car in areas where the original styling was let down. e.g enhancing ths slashes down the side of the car with the addition of the cada skirts, changing the four spoke wheels and bland front bumper.

Vandals are attracted to cars that stand out. Like a baby with a shiny coin.
As for the intercooler damage. Wasnt bad luck, was salt from the roads which have eventually eaten its way through the outer tubes. This happens to ALL intercoolers. Because your intercooler is more exposed this is MORE likely to happen.
Your gonna benefit from the full cooling ability but i think its gonna come at a cost. As i said previously tho, shit hot work!!

very unique mate personally, a silver Plus type grille & maybe painting the headlight fairings silver would finish it off a treat. as I am aware, i'll get flamed, but it's a different way of showing off the front, a bit radical yes, but hey, each to their own, looks like a very professional job

I, like most people like a modified coop. But, modified along the lines of, something that looks better but still 'factory' to some degree. I like to think that the mods that i do are not a million miles away from what fiat might do to the car if were still in production to give it a facelift. If you know what im getting at? This, so absolutley brakes the lines of the front bumper that a manufacturer wouldnt dream of doing it. Not a fan really.

I had thought about salt erosion, especially at this time of the year. But as my intercooler isn't hidden behind mesh or a bumper i can quickly, easily and dirctly clean off any road muck.

That looks quite cool, if not daring. And it looks like your Coop is sticking is tongue out! Anyone who want's to be different scores points in my book and if you can do with with a bit of insult at the common too, well that's just extra brownie points. Spray it black with the rest of the decals and we'll go parading someday with our differently styled Portofino Coops!

Not quite got round to that one yet.
Am considering removing the fiat badge and putting a stick on one in its place (although cars that i have seen with stick on number plates on the bonnet look a bit clumsy to me)
or
putting a stick on one at the bottom section of the bumper in the middle.
or
possibly a square import one off to one side of the bumper.
decisions decisions...

Looks mate! I was going to do the same sort of thing to a standard bumper (kind of escort RS look), but that went out the window when it got attacked by a badger

I think it looks cool! Not something I would have gone for, but its special! Love your sides, going to get them as well!

"Do not do this. I can say it will look totally crap. Period." Not sure about that Begbie, guess your too young to recall this approach applied to some E-type Jags - cam look OK and it will retain the symmetry...

well i considered doing a similar mod on the same cadmuro front bumper about 18 months ago although i wasnt going to cut fullt through the horizontal top like you have, rather leave the top about 2" thick.johns did a good photoshop of one ages back, john you still got the pic?? personally im not a fan of how it looks but ive always been real funny with styling on the coupe <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> you're in luck - see here Not exactly photoshop quality

Ended up putting the plate in the middle of the bonnet, hiding the fiat badge. Tried many different places but none looked right. This kept the car symetrical and is a cheap way of debadging the bonnet.
Pics to follow..

On some cars, the number plate on the number plate on the bonnet looks fine, but unfortuantly, the coupe is one of those cars it doesn't work on
