Hello,

My mate bought an LE a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it and want one myself. I have my eyes on a black LE but have some reservations. I currently have a 3 year old car, still in warranty etc and very reliable. I am nervous about buying the LE due to reliability, what are they like, the one I want is totally standard and had the cambelt done at 65k (currently at 94k). Any help would be appreciated.

Have a read here

Buying a high miler coupe is not a problem if it has been looked after. There are many of us on here that have cars with well over 100k miles on the original engine with no problems.

I bought my Coupé at about 85K miles. It has now done over 117K and is still on the original engine, turbo and clutch. It pays to do your homework and buy from a genuine enthusiast. Europa's link should tell you most things you need to know and check for.

To reiterate what everyone else will tell you, maintenance is the key. If it's been looked after and you continue this you'll get a lot of fun out of it. I'm selling my Plus, before that I had a 20v (NA). So in seven years of coup driving I've never been let down. Good hunting!

Mine has done 87k no probs. Except the manifold which isnt major. My belts were done at 60 odd thousand 3 years ago and on visual inspection look ok. Your black le seems similar to mine, can you tell us who you are buying from it may also help.

If you change your mind on the colour mine has to go by xmas and may have to let it away cheap.

Buy a good one and you won't be disappointed.

Confused, frustrated, mildly annoyed.....but NEVER disappointed.

Maintenance & service history are so important, especially if it has been looked after by someone who knows the car well. I bought mine at 105k and I'm upto 129k with no major issues (touch wood !!). From my experience, try to keep some money aside...just in case (but that is the case for any car I guess). Also, if you buy the car, try to get it maintained by Fiat Coupe specialist (ie Motormech/Powerfiat amongst others)
