yeo, the g-tec is cheap and effective, I got mine for around £25.

Managed 6.21 out of my coupe with a 90k clutch. Civic got 5.8 or something out of his novitec coupe.

Oh and 6.1 out of his 200bhp TDI ibiza!

Oh and we had 5.31 out of Hursty's M3 3.2 Evo.

The HOMO's wouldnt try it in their EVO's!

I'll do it

I reckon it should be good for sub 5 seconds although I find the gear change a little slow compared to the coop.

I got 5.6 out of the old coupe using just over 1.0 bar on the prv, that was the perfect boost for traction on the road in 1st gear - hooked up beautifully. The Ibiza is good for a sub 6 sec run with new tyres on I'll warrant - will try it with an empty tank and lower the pressures next time...

The Evo would DEFO do sub-5 secs if you launched it, the once I did it was so so brutal, at 30 mph before you knew it.

Civic is the GTEC-LORD - he WILL extract the best possible time out of any given car. Hence we all get him to do our runs.

Oh and I was passenger when he did that one launch, it was mad! Jo/DoctorFrag was next to us I believe.

That was in my 20vt with G-Tec chip @ 1.2bar and panel filter. I have another at 5.62 although most of the time it was around 6 seconds.

I have one, and will soon have a 20VT, and will soon add to this thread!

My old metro clocked 6.4, could have gone quicker. Always find it hard to record a 1/4 on the road, bit risky for the license methinks...

It just starts itself once you get moving, handy as it neglects any reaction times etc. You 'prime' it, then as soon as you move it starts.

Yeah, it uses G-force to measure how fast you are going. You level it, the display tells you when its level, then press a button, it says 'GO'. Then as soon as it measures any G-force (as soon as you start moving), it starts timing.

They are very cleaver and use the same tecnology as laser guided missiles. it has to be level to work correctly then works out how fast you are excellerating by the amount of G's you are pulling, its a simple constant, if you are excellerating at a constant 1G you will hit 100mph in X seconds, if done on a level road they can be spot on

I got 6.6 in my FTO

Dave

Yeah, but with a 3-d accelerometer they could easily compensate for slope... and on a current car, why not just ask the ECU?
