Quote:

I took the coop in to a bodyshop this afternoon to get a quote to take out a scrape the girlfriend put in the rear panel. As I was there I thought I'd get the black bits done. And the stone chips on the bonnet. In fact why not respray the whole thing. £2,000. Booked in for end of month.

Have I done the right thing?

The car cost me £4k 5 months ago, since then I've spent £2,500 on mechanicial bits, and now more cost on the way.

It all depends on why you own that car. If you own it as a financial model of economic travel, then no, of course not. But if you enjoy owning the car, and every time you look at it in its newly resprayed glory, you feel proud to own it and enjoy its appearance, then yes, totally.

In terms of expenditure, my LE cost me 1800 quid, and I've probably spent 1k on servicing / fixing it in one year and probably about 4k or so on mods and tyres. It's about to have the head off to see why it's still drinking oil, a PA rad, new steering rack and probably a belt change as well, and then I'm going to get it resprayed.

Is it worth it ? No way.

Do I care? Same answer

I'd expect a perfect job for that money. As long as it is 100% perfect quality then i think it is worth it

I got 2 quotes last week , to fit bodykit and try to blend in a couple of bits done badly in the past......ended up being convinced I'd need a full respray.....1st place quoted £2000 ....excluding the roof

2nd place said they would do the whole car for £800 ( & vat ) .....they have a excellent reputation, very good work .

None of them mentioned taking windows out or bumpers off , ect ,but I was assured it would look like new

So I'm getting a full respray in November for £800....I think £2000 is way over the top , I know I won't get my money back either but I plan to keep the car so I think its worth it .

Kevin.

I don't think £800 is bad really, its a small 1 man outfit , his work is alway top notch ...so fingers crossed
