anyone used high temp paint to do this? or what is the best thing to use?

I just used standard paint mix from Halfords. No problems so far...

Mine is also painted with normal spray paint,ive had no probs with it

Standard Hammerite for both rocker cover and brake Calipers, worked fine 2 years so far.

Its the welsh crowd taking over a thread again!!!

Only been in Wales once. Did a low lewel ride in the back-seat of a Tornado. It was great fun.

Yeah means i can do some proper milages between turbos hmm new turbo, rear bumper(if sodding solo italia learn to reply to my emails!! ), new skirts, new rear arb, new induction pipe(not much use unless i can get FMIC though..) and new map made for LPG running

I personally would use high temp stuff just to be on the safe side of thing's as theres nothing worse than doing a good job and it all flaking away in time.

If i do mine will prob get some more heatproof stuff from USautomotive again as their stuff rocks on the calipers, though is dark i may try a lighter color or just purple lol!

the paint dont flake away on the LE coupe's does it ?

Yeah i seen one or two, the older ones mind but it does start to, possibly the higher temps that cause it mind

Munchkin....is that spray on enamal paint or done with a brush?

Red is spray - silver is masked off and brush on. Both are Super Enamel off the shelf from Halfords. The hammerite works well but has a tendency to mark. The enamel still looks mint though!

used normal car paint on my rocker cover aswell with plenty of laquere-and yes another welsh person

Just being paranoid, but I'd use caliper paint. At least you know it will cope with the high temperatures.

I agree with aaron that the tiny bit more its worth getting the heatproof stuff as try lifting your bonnet after a run in summer and you feel how hot it gets under the bonnet, try touching the rocker cover as well if you wish

Disclaimer.... If you lose your finger prints due to touching the rocker cover while slightly warm i can not be held responsible

I wouldn't quote too much Little Britain seen as you are thinking of buying "Ladies Things" off eBay!!!!!!

Back on track I'm breaking with Welsh tradition of painting and polishing the whole top of the engine instead.

not mine, mine is half done. The pic is a good job though!

The thing is then with polishing it draws your eyes outward more looking at the other btis of the engine bay and being coop owners we then go, hmm some silicone piping here and there, some elbow grease there..... and never stops....

Painted is best for me in my eyes as they dont shine and reflect as much(no women doing there hair and makeup in them ) andit fits in more with the color coding scheme of the car, like the bits inside the odd bit of the engine bay

I tried the headertank bottle after a brief attack with a 1200grit bit of sand paper and its still not held on but the heatshield i have is all sprayed up incase i ever refit it

what s a good thing to use prior to painting? to clean the cover properly!

White spirits, brake cleaner, or my favourite, the dishwasher a few times with some strong baking soda in it as well god i love some of Taz's crazy things i remember reading on the old forum the guy is a legend to me

Yeah ask Taz the man who can himself but he did put it in the dishwasher at least once and some other bits...

..I managed to fit plenum, rocker cover, heatshield, fuel rail, inlet manifold & a few other bits.....came out quite clean as I wanted all the bits clean, before the relevant bits went off for chrome plating & polishing...
