Here we go . Im really sorry but Sats don't suit me as I work Sats and have a random week day of as well as Sundays. So Sundays suit me best. However if Sats suit most people then I'll just take it as a days holidays . I'd drive as far as Dublin. If more people come from one particular area we could help accomodate them, so say I get a load rounded up from up north we could lean towards a more northerly location . As for what to do I'd suggest maybe a RR meet, which I suppose would lean towards a Saturday, doh! Or meet up for a chat at a nice scenic location for a mini photoshoot then of to a restaraunt for a meal, or a game of bowling or something. Dont know if any of you guys let the other half on this forum, but are they included?

Good good, starting to a few rounded up . However still not at a very fast rate. If you know anymore Irish owners send out a few PM's. The spotting threads are generally good for finding other people .

How about Sunday, October 29th? I would suggest somewhere north(ish) - maybe Monaghan? Most of the owners seem to be in the top half of the country?

If we can get a date organised and agreed first then we can look for a location . I'll go with the October 29th date. Its just under 2months away so plenty of time to get arranged with work, family or what ever .

Sat or Sun would suit me too but I'd be in favour of close to mid country / Dublin as I'm in Waterford !
There is a great RR in Waterford City and I can arrange accommodation in Tramore. Did this a few years ago with a crowd of guys from the Irish Ford RS club. We had a mini impromptu car show on the prom when we lined up all the cars and popped the hoods !

Sounds like the discussion we had some time back about attending the Alfa meet, but somewhere roughly central would be ideal for me.29th Oct is fine.

I only hope this dicussion doesn't turn into the Alfa one as did anything ever happen with it? Anyway I can only hope we get anything like the attendance at the NIIMC meet with over 12 Coupes in attandance at various points during the day . Brings me nicely onto another subject. The NIIMC or Northern Ireland Italian Motor Club of which me BigIan and others on here are members. Its a club that I'm sure is too far away for most of you southern guys to travel to but just wanted to mention it. Get over to NIIMC.net and read up on all the club events which we have attended. Very worth while to click on the "Panda to America" section to see all the pics from Jim taking Club Mascot Silvia a £100 Fiat Panda on a Coast to Coast trip across America. He did Africa last year but thats another story . Also post on the forum that I sent you, Stuart the club secetary is giving me a hard time for being involved in organising something outside of NIIMC . Anyway back to matters in hand. If we agree on the date then location next. I'm asking around at the minute, but think somewhere fairly central would be fairest to everyone.

.OK the date is agreed (I hope ). All we need now is a location and something to do. You guys down south would know better of somewhere suitable than me. The place that was mentioned before for the Alfa meet sounded central, Athlone was it? Is there anywhere else that has a good road network to it? We would need somewhere in the town to meet if anyone knows it? A nice sceneic spot for some pics and maybe somewhere for a bite to eat? Questions all needing answered soon

Athlone is about as central as you can get: see here ! I think there might be a castle or two and maybe a forest there? Maybe someone more local could suggest something suitably scenic!

Sunday 29th is the bank holiday weekend, could be a good date. Have been to a few events in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone Here , easy to find, good facilities, and large carpark.

Ahh, I hadn't realised it was a bank holiday Owners on a weekend away, lots of traffic on the roads. I know I suggested it, but perhaps not a great proposal after all?

Forget about the traffic David. A bank holiday weekend is good. Absolutely no excuse for people not going as they are of work on the Monday ! Always think of the positives . That Hotel looks really good. Nice and scenic really good for a mini photoshoot. Looks like they do good food as well. How about 29th Oct for the date Hudson bay Hotel for the location and about 1pm for the time. I could see most people traveling there in the most 2-3hours, not too bad. Not to early to get up but have breakfast. Leave about 9.30 - 10am. Drive down. Meet up have our photoshoot and a chat/ get to know you session at 1pm. In for something to eat about 2pm. Finish meal at 3.30ish. Then out for a run to another location 4 to 4.30ish(Remembering to keep speeds and overtaking manouvers to a minimum ) and more photos/say farewell session 5-6ish. leave for home 7ish. Any other suggestions for what to do on the day? Like Hannibal from the A-Team used to say "I love it when a plan comes together" .

OK if the proposed date, time, location and everything meets with everyones approval then we are a go. If possible could someone from down south phone the hotel and give them prior warning of what we're planning. Other than that its time to get a list drawn together, so we can book the lunch. Please post here or PM me, Davidub or darmtb. The list of people definatly (no backing out ) attending: 1. Allystew + 1 2. Davidub 3. Jamesy 4. BigIan 5. yellow_coop 6. Gerryh 7. CollieD ? 8. Skodaman 9. LE MAN ? 10. darmtb

OK thats 3 NI coupes and only 1 ROI coupe so far. Come on guys we can do better than that . We have to beat the 12 or so that was at the NIIMC meet, and with the change of location to suit more ROI owners I'm sure we can do it .

Good man Turbo_Verde. You don't need your Coupe with you. Any FCCUK'er is welcome . None of this "if" you get this to happen as "it is" happening, isn't that right everyone ? There has been plenty of notice so I can't see why people won't be able to make it.

A quick update ... I have had some contact with the hotel, yes they have restaurant that can do lunch, but we need some concrete numbers ... I also enquired about getting a biggish space reserved in their car park, but I couldn't talk to an appropriate person, so I sent an email to one of their generic addresses - I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm going to be fairly busy (and in a different time zone) for the next few weeks, could someone else chase the hotel/numbers and keep this thing going?

OK, got an email from the hotel: "We would be delighted to cater for your lunch requirements - we serve Carvery Lunch daily in our Waterfront Bar from 12.30-2.30pm. We have quite a large car park, so parking would be no problem. We do not reserves spaces but I can assure you there will be ample space for 10 cars. We would be delighted to welcome your group to The Hodson Bay Hotel." So come on, roll up, roll up who else wants to come along - let's nail this one down and confirm numbers. I'm getting my alloys refurbed and LE side skirts just for this occassion ... pity about the rest of the bodywork The list of people definately (no backing out ) attending: 1. Allystew + 1 2. Davidub 3. Jamesy 4. BigIan 5. yellow_coop 6. Gerryh 7. CollieD ? 8. Skodaman 9. LE MAN ? 10. darmtb

I must get onto the guy in Galway again to see if he'll go along. Ally I still have those pace notes I wrote up on the back of my map book from Edgeworthstown to Athlone. Do you still want them? I think I'll be the only Coupé on the Rosscommon road going to the meet! Hard luck on the seats CollieD

Its going to take a miracle for me to get there in the coupé at this stage, entire engine strewn around the garage, but I'm taking the opportunity to check out everything while the engine is out and am going to do a proper job that will last. Might make it there in something else to say hello.

We're getting close, so it would be good to confirm who's attending: 1. Allystew + 1 2. Davidub? 3. Jamesy 4. BigIan 5. yellow_coop? 6. Gerryh 7. CollieD ? 8. Skodaman 9. darmtb I plan to attend, although my clutch is a bit iffy ... if it gets any worse between now and Friday I may back out as I have to get my car to South London on this clutch

OK guys time to take stock. Thats quite a few people that cant make it. I don't want to drive half of Ireland for only a few people to turn up.
Everyone needs to make a decision now on whether or not we go ahead, and how many people will be there?
I would say a cut of point of Friday so that if we're not going ahead then at least everyone can plan something else for the weekend.

The coop list now looks like:
1. Allystew + 1 2. Davidub? 3. Jamesy 4. BigIan 5. Gerryh 6. CollieD + CTR 7. Skodaman 8. darmtb
It would be good if the other people on this list, who haven't already done so, confirm.

OK who else from the north is for going? If its a goer then we need a meet point and a plan of action. I'm still up for the cut of point of Friday evening as I need to be able to make arrangements in time if to enable me to go.

OK, I'm in ... clutch doesn't seem to be any worse! The list is as follows:
1. Allystew + 1 2. Davidub 3. Jamesy 4. CollieD + CTR 5. darmtb
So 5 coops and a CTR. Hopefully BigIan, Gerryh and/or Skodaman can make it too. I'd say we go for it. It's gonna be the new year before we could arrange something again.

Well done to GerryH (I think that was the name) that got the coupe meet on the national airwaves. The meet was mentioned twice on Martins morning show on Today FM this morning. You never know that could pull a few out of the woodwork. CollieD

Hi Jamesy, the best way to get your route is to go to www.aaireland.ie and then go to route planner. Place your origin and your destination and it will give you the best route and the overall route time and also the list of all the roads. Very handy indeed. CollieD

I think ally was hoping us Northern guys could meet at armagh and head down from there in a convoy..
Im not 100% sure i can go yet, trying to sort out some stuff for work but hopefully I will be there.
What time and where about are you thinking of meeting Ally ?
I would suggest at the side of the road near the Armagh Demesne (just up from the cop station) ? Maybe you already have somewhere in mind though ?
Cheers Ian

Don't know Armagh very well but I do know the centre of town, with the big green. I planned the Route on the AA site from Armagh to Athlone and it says 1hr 44mins, So I'd say 2hrs . If we're planning to be in Athlone for 1pm the we'd need to leave Armagh at 11am. I'd like to aim for 10.45am again to give us some breathing space . Thats me leaving home about 10am in Magherafelt. So James do you want to meet in Armagh? I've printed of the route and got a great map with route marked on it, I should have a co pilot with me as well to read the map. Ian hope you get your work sorted. Gives a good day tomorrow so we have the makings of a great day . Looking forward to meeting everyone. Ian and James I sent you guys my mob no over PM. Put it in your phones and ring me in the morning. Much easier to meet up then.

We had 7 coops and a CTR in the end. Fair play to everyone that turned up, we had a bit of a chat, then a bit of a queue for food, then a bit of a drive in traffic. Passers by got their pics taken in front of allystews car, i told them that mine had a 3" downpipe and it was really my coop that they wanted a pic of, but they didn't seem convinced All in all, it was great to meet everyone, but we didn't really get a chance to rip up the roads in athlone ... maybe next time

Good meet. Good craic. The locals got treated to 7 Coupes in a convoy. Naturally there was a sprint blue one leading the posse for 'navigation' purposes on the way out...

Ok heres some of the pics I took on the day . Again I'm so glad we managed to pull this meet together. I was worried at one point but I'm glad it turned out so well . My run in with Ferrari 355 on the way to Athlone small group The full line up bonnets up As I said before I'm all up for another meet in the spring. My suggestion would be a "Trackskills" trackday at Kirkistown. These are free in for spectators so those people who do not want to track their coupes can still come along. Passangers are free as well. Also I might finally have my coupe fully ready for the track in the spring .

Well, Just got back to computer so posting today. Was a great day and was brill to meet everyone who shares a psssion for the coupe. 7 is not a bad start so we have to build on this for the next one and as Ally said a trackskills event would be a great idea. CollieD

I've been up there a few times, it's about a 90 min run from Dublin - not too far away! The other option is Westward in Enfield.

Not so sure about ECC. They have amazing facilities, its just a few other things but that would put me off. Westward might be a bit further away for me but do they not do Unichips? I know they mightn't have much experience with the Coupe but if we did get a RR day then it would give them a really good base to work from. They could see how the car works with the different setups that each of us have. Even for the standard guys its just as good for you guys to check everything is working as it should .
