I’m working on the sticky dash at the moment. I’m slowly cleaning the stuff up, but is there a way to restore the original finish?

My method is using isopropanol to remove all the sticky mess, wipe with panel wipes and a couple of coats of satin black rattle can to give it that OE soft touch look.

Well, I got an envelope in the mail today, supposedly containing a bracket. But it was empty! Maybe customs took it, maybe someone stole it, or perhaps it made its way out on its own. ooo

Anyways, I appreciate the effort, and if you ever find one again, I’d be delighted to pay for both of them, including shipping. smile

Hi Mags,
the same thing has happened to me, twice. When i queried the problem of missing metal items in an envelope i found out and still find it quite unbelievable that the gpo can get away with removing the offending metal item, in their eyes, because it can damage the machinery that they use to sort the letters, and then resealing an empty envelope and sending it on it`s way without any explanation. l lost a turbo badge and a key on separate occasions, commiserations for your loss but if you have another sent by post probably a good idea to have it packed in a jiffy bag or a box.

I’ve been welding in patches to fix rust on my sons K10 micra for the last 4 months, but finally back on the coupe…

I’m about to get on with the final assembly in the engine bay. Basically the pipe work for the induction system. I think I’m able to figure out how it goes together, bar the wiring looms.

Is there a guide to how to route the engine bay wiring? What goes over or under what, and where does it clip in?

I’m not looking for a wiring diagram, just an overview of the placement of the loom, relative to the other components.

I think it might be for the bonnet switch. It has two black wires. But what does the bonnet switch do?

Bonnet switch? Do you mean the push-button for the bonnet-alarm?

I’m not sure my car has a factory alarm. Maybe it was never connected.

The push-switch I'm referring to is fitted to the RH edge of the slam panel and engages withe the knurled wheel on the underside of the bonnet.

The connector might be for headlamp washers?

Tires guys! I have these lovely 17” wheels in need for some rubber.

I’m thinking 205/45-17, what’s a good compromise between price and handling?

The car will probably be driven on rare occasions only, but I would like to have n nice time doing so. Never in the rain, never to a track day.

So I’d like a good dry weather performer, but not at any cost.

The car started and ran perfectly, so I backed it out for a thorough was.

When starting it to go back in, it threw a check engine light, and now runs on 4 cylinders only.

(Sigh)

There are no signs of water intrusion in the engine bay, where do I start?

Failed fuel injector I'd think. Start it up and feel the injectors. You should feel which one isn't pulsing. Alternative if you've a multi meter set it to resistance and check the reading on each injector. You should see one that's different to the others

Great tip! I’ll start with isolating the non-firing cylinder, and start by swapping coils, then investigating injectors.

Wow, spot on! Just for kicks I tried my diagnostic cable, running startrek. I came up with Injector open circuit cylinder 1.

Using a multimeter I was able to confirm the same.

So now I need to source a new injector…
