Hi everyone,
I'm new to Fiat Coupe ownership, well I will be come Friday. My car's value - 20V - is about £1000. As it's going to be used for less than 3,000 miles I'll be going with agreed value cover. Footman James quote is £225, parked in the driveway, location Suffolk. Does this sound a reasonable amount?
Hope this post is in the correct location!
Many thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome.

Admittedly I've no idea what condition your coupé is in but 1k for agreed value sounds quite modest?

There are currently arrangements with Hagerty and Lancaster also re agreed value along with club member discount so you might want to feel them out as comparison...

Thanks for the reply. Tried Hagerty, they were over £300.

Thanks. Just phoned ClassicLine the insurer of my current classic car and their price is £151.75, so I've gone with them. It's such a good price because I now in effect have a multi policy. Apparently it will go up by about 20% when renewal comes as it will be my only classic car.

That's good. I used ClassicLine for a couple of years as their rates were good, but their most recent quote was ridiculously higher so ended up with Adrian Flux.

Renewed with Hastings Direct.

I said that my car was valued at £ 4000.00.
8000 miles pa.

Parked on driveway.
Driven all year around.

Valerie and I to drive.
Both retired.
Gave our Driving Licence numbers.

Includes RAC Breakdown and Recovery.

£ 277.33. which is 1p cheaper than last year.

I think that they make it all up.

I have just renewed with FJ for the sixth year but also included the Barchetta into the policy. Coupe now after some checking and reviewing had a agreed value upped 50% from last year after getting the bodywork done basis present market values of restored examples and as the B is under resto and being the super rare Riviera had an agreed value placed the same as the coupe last year for £231 for both cars, both agreed values, RAC and full salvage rights, both garaged, both on limited 3000 miles a year.

I checked with others commonly known and they do not compare in my opinion.

ClassicLine renewal quote came through at £156, just £5 more than last year. 3,000 miles, garaged, agreed value £3,500, so will be renewing. Next year, after a bit more paintwork has been refreshed will ask for an agreed value increase.

I have gone for the Flex cover with Footman - covers the Coupe and my main car (Mazda 3 sport nav - worth around 7K). 10K agreed value on the coupe, unlimited mileage/year (its only done 62K), RAC cover for both with homestart, £605 (combined).

Quote for this year from ClassicLine is £169, just £13 more than last year, even though I've managed to gain 3 points on my licence. Hagerty has come in at £282. I'll be contacting Lancaster Insurance for a quote too. Yet to see if CL will agree to a rise in agreed value now I've had the bumpers and bonnet resprayed, apart from the roof not being quite perfect they were the only parts of the bodywork letting the car down.

With Lancaster after you get the quote if tell them you're a member of a car club you will get a further discount. That's providing you are member as they may ask for proof.

I am a member of a couple of clubs, but i guess being a paid member of this coupe club is also a valid car club?

Yes FLPete this is most certainly a valid car club!

Many insurance companies take this into account these days.

Lancaster and Footman James have both come in with a quote of £165 with a £50 excess. Does anyone know if their valuation agreements are sensible? ClassicLine err on the mean side!

I was insured with Lancaster for a year with an agreed value. The AV lasts two years and their price was good. That was the end of the good news...

When the AV came back at £8.5K rather than £8K, they wanted a further £30 which I thought was really cheeky.

Getting though to them on the phone was impossible. Emails took days and days to be answered.

I tried to add my friend as a named driver for a week for the Turin trip and they basically said no, because apparently if you have a second job as a photographer, you are too greater risk! Absolute bullsh*t. I took my business back to Adrian Flux who are a delight to deal with.

My own experience with AF agrees with that even if their quotes are a quid or two more.

Lancaster had a big drive towards us (and presumably others) a couple of years ago but the elegant promises made by their helmsman were not agreed to by those at the coal-face, turning me off at least.
