We're crusing through France after getting the early shuttle. Lots of interesting cars heading to Le Mans on board. Stopping for the night near Geneva and aim to be at the hotel in Turin before mid day for lunch then activities.
Coupe is doing well. Thanks to Joe for a last minute repair!

Hi, left Charolles at 10h30 this morning, motorway to Lyon,Grenoble. Then B-road through Vizille up to the Col de Lautaret 2058m (very nice site-seeing). Best to have 2 speeds on you cooling fans the climb is quite steep and slow.
Going down toward Briançon,mind the motor-biker and muscular-biker.After Col de Mongenevre (2200m),the progression was very slow because of twisties and big lorries (2nd gear all the way). Then SS24/SR24 then Oulx then italian motorway A32 and tunnels and roadworks then the Atlantic at18h30. Thank you mister GPS.
It was a very nice journey under the sun.

We had a most amazing day. Breakfast in Dijon, lunch at Lake Geneva and dinner in Torino!
The Great St Bernard Pass was just incredible. We had Matt Monro playing, wall-to-wall sunshine and spectacular views. We stopped at the top for a beer to let the car cool down. It was some climb up to 2450m and the needles in the gauges were getting right up.
Now in Torino, enjoying the weather before Saturday!
See you all in the morning

I went via the Saint Gotthard pass as well. Lots of traffic in Switzerland. Got caught up in the mother of traffic jams around Lugano. Traffic stopped on motorway then crawled. Took a detour via Ponte Tresa. Slow as hell there as well. Good knows how bad it may have been around Milan, if that was the issue. Only took 2 hours extra. Some nice driving roads and lots of hills and passes.
Coupe was fine after it's shake down.

Hope all (mostly) are converging/have landed in Turin!
Rosso was spot-on saying "one blink and you'll miss the Gt St Bernard Pass turn", we just made it and blimey that is something not to be missed! Not many cars but a few bikers some of whom we met up in our digs west of Aosta.
Pretty pleased with BumbleBee who turned 175k on the way up, oil and water both at 100 but had a cool-down (and photoshoot obviously) at the summit. At 1630 the sun had been beating down long enough for the melting snow to be flooding the roads near the top so there was more splashing than slushing!
See ya in the morning

We turned off the obvious path via Milan and came the slow way down the side of the big lake. Little villages and 50 or 70kph limits most of the way but a very pleasant drive... but slow until we were back on the motorways.
There's some big bloke we keep bumping into - looks familiar, wearing a coupe polo, but driving an Audi for some reason. If he doesn't have some answers soon we'll have to throw him out of the hotel
(on the other hand, he was buying the beers yesterday...)
Arrived at hotel 3am this morning after having replaced alternator following a breakdown on the A6. 4am got a call that my dog had passed. Tired and sad. 😢

Well Kathy and I arrived yesterday rather tired and emotional - almost got into a fight at the toll outside Milan then just missed getting hit on a roundabout as we entered into Turin. Then to round it all off Scotland's finest did us proud at the fitbaw Hopefully the next few days will improve
See you all at the RV shortly

A couple of observations whilst in Italy - it's rare to find a petrol station with E10 which is surprising and in fact it's not that common elsewhere. It appears the UK have gone full on (should that be fuel on ) with E10 roll out. Needn't have bothered with my stash of emergency E10 additive
Second thing is Tennants Super appears to be a thing in the supermarkets - Scotland's best 9% rocket fuel which I don't recommend! Thought Italy was a county of fine taste and all that

Evening pic taken in Turin yesterday. Thought it looked like a Fiat publicity shot
Molto bene!
Although it almost looks like your coop is photo-shopped on
Yep, there was plenty of E5 on offer but I could find no 97 octane or above. However it's got us back to Germany in one piece, just the ferry to Newcastle tomorrow!
Hope everyone is travelling well and safely

The Da Do Ron Ron I don't think is the issue rather the ethanol content ie E5 is fine for the older cars but E10 best avoided due to the higher water content However found Q8 in Torino at a mind boggling 100 octane

Oh, and arriving in central Germany this evening Ben and I went for a pizza in this country village (which has properties in its main street dated back to the 1600's, one at 1599!) and the owners were from Sicily!

Back in Berlin an hour ago... some concern that the battery voltage was a touch low, but we made it ok.
We reached the top of Gotthard in two and a half hours, but the rest of Switzerland was just full of Swiss moving ten or fifteen under the limit, and took a while... A lorry driver drifting his truck around in a tunnel going up as we were coming down lost his back end and came within an inch of us, which was a bit hairy.
First fuel stop indicate better than 45mpg, but the gauge rather suggested that the tank hadn't filled properly. I'll get a better figure when I fill up in the next day or so. 780 miles in about twelve hours of driving. The 16NA cruises very nicely at 95-100mph, but pushing 5k revs gets a bit wearing
Neil
edit: oh, and got stopped by the German customs coming out of Switzerland... "Why are you going to Germany?" "We live there." "Oh..."
