If people's routes go anywhere near Luxembourg that has always been much cheaper for fuel. Belgium too isn't normally too bad.
The worst places are usually Netherlands, Switzerland & Italy.

Don't fill up on a motorway services. You'll see prices for E10 in excess of two euros; the coupe needs E5 at a minimum and that costs more. In Germany, look for signs for 'Autohof' which are usually close - less than a km - to the motorway, but ten or twenty cents cheaper. And the same again if you can get into a medium sized town and find a filling station there.

I've found Belgium not too bad even on the motorways. Austria used to be cheaper but no more, I fear. Netherlands has ridivylous prices. But even my local place is between 1.70 and 1.85 depending on the time of day; prices here are silly volatile (exchange rate is 1.17 this evening).

I'll be filling up in Newcastle and not refuelling until after our first stop in Germany 285 miles later. At present I'm seeing E5 at around €1.81.

I thought I was going bonkers when I first noticed these "Variable" prices in Germany. I walked past a garage to get to a bakery, minutes later as I returned the price had increased. Then just a few hours later it had changed again, I mentioned this to my friend who told me "This is Normal in Germany."

Prices here at home are though all over the place. I popped to the local Shell recently and filled up with V-Power, but I failed to check the price. £1.78.9 / L shocked The local BP was just £1.59.9 / L for their ultimate so I should have checked the car, which does list petrol stations by price. If only I had bothered to look at it rolleyes

Many of you will realise this already, but thanks to a prompt, Luca has confirmed that for the gala dinner on Saturday a customary Italian 'dress code' applies.

That is, 'smart casual', which may include a good polo shirt, but please no tank-tops, shorts or 'slippers' i.e.flip-flops.

This code tends to apply in general for eating out in the evening if going to a good restaurant.

Stage 1 - Worcester to Dover - and stage 2 - Calais to Fahrland both successfully completed. I have a couple of minor electrical issues I can live with but will try and resolve, and a few paint chips for which I have just ordered some paint. Turns out you can still get Fiat 632 laugh

Choice of three: sunroof misbehaving (probably the microswitches, maybe the controller); headlight upperdowner not upping or downing (switch or controller unit(s)); windscreen squirter not squirting forward or back (probably the motor full of slime).

I'll start with the squirter as it might not rain conveniently in Turin.

Hopefully just the nrv needing cleaned.

I might have a spare headlight control unit, I'll bring it if it's the same for the 16v?

Yes, the NRV is a possibility, but I don't hear the motor...

The units for the lights are compatible, but as both are down it's possible the switch is faulty.

Luca has worked some magic and located a restaurant about 10 minutes (on foot) from the hotel that can accommodate us all, booked in advance. This can only be done by offering a fixed menu though, details of which will emerge shortly. It's likely there will a limited choice, based on fish, meat or pizza, with dietary requirements factored in.

Our contact in NL who is coordinating with Luca will draw up a registration form upon which confirmation of attendance, names/contact details (mainly to avoid no-shows) and menu choices can be entered.

Latest numbers attending are 55, composed as follows:

UK - 22
NL -18
AT - 2
DE - 11
F - 2

Apologies, I've been out of range this week, so missed this. Is it too late to join the party? Cheers

Washer pump is fixed - poor contacts on the motor - but the headlight motors look as if one side is dragging the other down, an internal short I think. The controlling IC is amazingly still available, but datasheets aren't so knowing what it's doing is educated guesswork.

Joe's bringing me spares to Turin.

The sunroof remains uncooperative but that can wait.

We're watching it with care; we'll need to drive right through the wet bits (coming through Switzerland from Berlin) but it looks as if the rain is expected to stop today or tomorrow. At the moment the only motorway closure I'm aware of is a big stretch of the A16 in the Voralberg (Austria, west of Innsbruck).
