Though i've never got around to doing anything about it i've never liked the way they sit in the wheel arches, seem way too small. Is there a reason for them being this size? A simple remedy i guess would be to get a set of turbo wheels, with a bigger tyre it would make the gap smaller, what is the biggest it can fit? Suppose lowering the suspension would be the other way to go, any suggestions welcome!

15 inch was just the popular size of the 90s I suppose. The 16 inch on the turbo would've been a way to clear the brakes and provide a key visual cue that the car was something different for marketing

If you want to go for a bigger wheel then I'd suggest an aftermarket 17 (or perhaps something from the Fiat range?) as 17 inch tyres are more of a modern size so are usually easier and cheaper to find.

The thing is that filling that gap with tyre alone would need a much bigger wheel and tyre which might do things like throw the speedo out. Lowering the car will also likely be needed to keep the wheel and tyre sensible. But at that point you're messing with the dynamics of the car - it might feel too firm on the road. Maybe easier to leave it stock and compromise the aesthetic requirement

Thanks, I'll probably end up leaving it as it is, it always looks worse when parked at the top of a slope ie looking at from below, guess I'll park it in a dip or the dark.
