Ooooh! I had a feeling I might get a few interceptor responses... You're very close, but no dice I'm afraid. Although, that guess is about as hot as an interceptor idling on a summer's day in stop-start traffic...

Correct - lancia fulvia v4 1966. Bottle of black tower on its way. Let's have a picture of the complete car you are getting! Current pic - is it the CV8?

Very close. It is a Jensen...
Here's a clue - it is almost identical to an interceptor in appearance, but was more sophisticated (and had a slightly longer wheelbase as a result)

Yep! Jensen FF Mk1. The engine bay is slightly longer in the FF compared with the interceptor to accommodate the front axle and transfer box for the 4WD system. My interceptor is currently minus an engine

[quote=cyborg7]Correct - lancia fulvia v4 1966. Bottle of black tower on its way. Let's have a picture of the complete car you are getting! Here it is: a 1966 series 1 fulvia. Style over substance as the engines only 1,216 cc, making no more than a measily <80 bhp. I can't really explain the attraction, but it's just got under my skin and I've been lusting after one for years. I blame the Petrolicious videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UUbhmx0qK0It's nowhere near as desirable as the 1.3 rally spec HF models, but think I prefer the earlier ones. Must be getting old. As Clarkson's said "it really is as pretty as the sun setting over Charlize Theron" as you can see - needs a bit of work, but I liked the fact it's all original, never even repainted, and I want to keep the oily rag look so I'm not looking retrim or anything.

I've always wanted one of these. The last true Lancia in my opinion. Lovely car!

Pic 2 - I would guess at a 6 cylinder 323 or Mazda's Ford Probe, Coupe equivalent? And the Gloucestershire Shield Trophy goes Brilly - well done Mark ! I think ARMs name has also been engraved on the trophy for his correct identification of Mazda. Mazda 323F 2 litre V6. Not the obvious choice for a classic Coupe, but it was on my list as it had the all important V6 sound. Luckily, the 5 cylinder sounds good in its own way. The Ford probe was never a car I could fall in love with though. Back in the 1990's there were a few magazine articles about Coupe comparisons as mentioned - like the Peugeot 406 Coupe, the 200SX, Corrado, Probe etc...made interesting reading at the time, especially as the Fiat came out rather well. See you later, when I shall dig out some more exotica for your delectation and confusion. Cheers Toby! I thought it was the 323 with pop up lights, but forgot it was called an F!

Evening Joe. It is Italian.... and a V6... but it ain't an Alfa.
PS, I'd LOVE a 75 V6. They were the first car to get me into V6 engines.
The first car to get me into Fiats, was the original Panda. My Uncle had one in blue, with the iconic 1000cc FIRE engine. Rev it 'till it screams !

Ok A bit left field now. Two very normal cars from my youth. Who knows, maybe you had one too. 1. A Swede with a little Je ne sais quoi... 2. This engine should need no introduction... Car and engine for both if you please

Second one is a mini, a 1250 I think.
First one looks awfully like a Renault 16, but you say it's Swedish. Renault owns a lot of Volvo, so are we feeling Volvic, perhaps? 1. Mr Barnes is on the right track. There is some French in there. Care to narrow down your choice ? 2. Close, but not quite the car or the cc.

Quality !!!!
I love a good old Volvo story. Yes, it is a 340.... but extra points for the engine / spec....... any guesses?
I also crashed mine into the back of someone back in 1996 on the A487 to Aberystwyth. I was on the way back to college with the back seats down full of gear, bike, bong, tins of value beans, tie-dye, other clichés and a tv.
I round a corner in the dark, and these red lights appear in my peripheral vision. By the time I realised, it was too late. A car had pulled out in front of me. I was doing 50 - 60mph. Car in front was doing 20. I remember the sound of locked up breaks and screaming tyres, then a shunt.
The TV flew off the front seat into the dashboard. Various pot plants lost their compost, and I lost my fender-bender virginity.
Needless to say. His boot would no longer shut, (his car was now only 2 feet long) but the Volvo was ok, apart from the headlight wiper was constantly on.
Yes, they were crap cars, but they had character ! Both Mrs G and Me had a 340 each at the same time. Good memories. Both died the same year in Lancashire. Mine through rust at only 90,000 miles, hers through a catalogue of Friday afternoon car crapness.
Still points to be gained for number 2 !!

Well it's not a moggy minor because the engine points the wrong way. How about a Riley Elf? 998cc. Correct cc this time, but not quite there. Clue: Princess Di had one.

Not a Metro - please not a Metro! Beggars can't be choosers Neil ! Yep, my first car. A 1.0L. No frills. You had to change to 1st to get up steep hills. The joke was, it was stolen and used as a getaway car. Then torched on a remote hillside.

I'm going to go for the 1.4 GLE?
Agree the car had character. I knew they had the renault engine but didn't realise they were assembled in holland. My mum's went on for about 20 years and I've just remembered that after I've left uni. it was even the "1st date with the Mrs" car some 25 years ago before I finally got a job and bought my own. Happy memories. Not the 1.4, but the epic power of the 1.7GL !!!! Same Renault engine as the Renault 19, 21 and others. It liked to eat distributors as I recall. Fuel economy was also pretty shocking. Felt pretty pokey compared to the 998cc metro. I think I have one "old" car left to post....

Punto mk1 1242 cc? Or 1108cc? Agghh. Decisions. 1242 cos of the silver box thing on the inner wing which my 1.1 didn't have. Eh? Eh? Huw. You are a credit to the Fiat community. 1242cc Mk1 Punto 75 SX to be exact. Loved it.
