Tomorrow see's me going back to Azerbaijan. Today saw me finish 3 days of hard work on the Plus.

Process was...

Wash
Remove rear light rings
Apple Iron X to remove all contaminates
Clay
Detail brush an Surfex HD in all the nooks and crannies
Rinse and dry
Mop with differing pads (Microfibre pad and green hex) with VSS and Mequiars Glaze (Not the unusual rubbish Meguiars stuff bought from Halfords) wink
Mop under bonnet around front rubbers and top of front bumper
Apply sealant - Carlack 68 - Every painted surface including door and book shuts
Apply Collimate 476 - same as above
Clean all leather twice with Chemical Guys leather cleaner
Clean steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake lever and door leather with the same
Treat all leather with leather balm
Buff and remove balm after 30 minutes soak
Clean carpets and clean mats with a focus on the 20VT inserts - Used Aerospace 303 upholstery cleaner
Blow dry all
Clean under engine bay with degreaser
Blow all water away
Treat engine bay with Rubber and vinyl care
Rub down engine bay with microfibre
Treat all rubber seals - Sonax Gummi Pfleger Rubber Care
Clean dash with IPA
Clean, polish and wax rocker cover

Thats about it, 3 days, on and off working.

Now the car is parked up and will be kept warm and dry in a heated Garage.

Great work Phil, looks really nice after all your efforts thumb

I'll find you a good condition OE oil filler cap and keep it to one side for your return in 4 months.

Phew, I just need to lie down after reading all that laugh

Must be fun having assorted trams trundling up and down outside smile

If you set up a webcam you could observe your Plus from afar for reassurance.

Safe journey back!

Phil, how do you find the mopping? There are a few light marks on the jag that I'd like to get out. Is it easy enough (not in time, in technique) I don't mind spending 2 days washing the car if it brings the paint to better than factory!

I love mopping, it gets me the results I look for and it's a must IMO. It's really simple; just keep the mop moving and use the right combinations for pads and polish and understand when to stop.

Detailing is 70% having the right products and process and 30% understanding what your doing and the affects of this.

Light marks can be removed with a cloth and a decent polish if you have the patience. I'd try the old favourite Autoglym Super Resin Polish (SRP) with a microfibre on the problem areas and see what happens. If you are going to mop, it's better to do the entire car as it really refines, so all the paint needs correcting at the same time ideally.

Remember, polish is polish and wax is wax. Polishing is not the last stage .... Waxing or even an application of a nano / or ceramic/polymer type product is.

I always wax last lol, I didn't used to wax and wondered why the shine vanished so quickly... Then I realised!

Might get myself a dt and some mops for the spring!
