Can't believe quali is underway and there isn't a thread yet.

1. Hamilton
2. Rosberg
3. Vettel

Almost a good call there, Ali!
If it had been the Scottish GP, there might have been more interest.

Looks like the track suits Ferrari better than Williams...

Really hard fought qualifying battle and it was great to see Mercedes being pushed for hard for pole. Looking at Ricciardo's qually lap onboard, the Red Bull is able to ride and come off the kerbs amazingly well, even better than the Mercedes, but it seems a little less strong on traction compared to the silver cars.

The race is finely poised tomorrow, with Mercedes and Red Bull locking out the first two rows. The run down into the first corner is very short and if you're brave, you can gain places going around the outside as cars bunch together on the inside. So if I were driving a Red Bull, that's what I'd be looking to do while Lulu and Britney do their best to overtake each other, while at the same time trying to avoid contact at all costs.

Jenson was yet again out-qualified by Maggie, but he does have the choice now of starting on the harder prime tyre. So it could be interesting to see how he fairs on an alternative strategy. Also, it's worth noting that every Singapore GP has had a safety car period.

Looking after the rear tyres and brakes will be key tomorrow and it will be very interesting to see how different drivers cope with managing them, especially with reduced assistance from the pitwall combined with the relentless nature of the track and the humidity.

Am I alone in disliking these street circuits? I much prefer a circuit where if the driver gets it wrong he doesn't get ground into powder by the walls...

Depends on which street circuit to be honest. Despite the history and driver challenge, Monaco bores me these days for obvious reasons. Singapore is ok though as you can overtake on it. The street circuits are good for variety.

With regards to the drivers getting heavily punished for making mistakes, I personally think it's good that we still have circuits where that can still happen.

BTW. Good little feature on Sky of Button V The Brownless.

Bad luck for Rosberg but I can't help but think this is just levelling out the problems Hamilton has had earlier in the season.

Really enjoyed that race with Nico watching from the pit wall. So despite performance advantage the Merc is still fragile in a few areas. The Safety car screwed up a few teams strategy well and truly. Looking forward to Suzuka smile

Were you watching a different race from me? Perez, Hulkenburg, Verne - lots going on there...

I agree, there was plenty of action going on up and down the field. Shame we didn't get to see the next installment of Britney V Lulu, but karma is a bitch.

Whilst I'm pleased the Lewis has taken the lead in the championship, I feel its a bit of a shame that we didn't see whether Nico has lewis' ability to earn decent points after starting from the pit lane.

personally, I don't think Nico is as good at the close wheel-to-wheel stuff as Lewis is (either that, or he's less reckless....) - would have been nice to find out though

Surprised that nobody has suggested a conspiracy theory that Toto sabotaged Nico's car in retribution for his Spa antics....

I hope that Mercedes can nail the gremlins that have deprived us of quite a few Hamilton-Rosberg duels. For the sake of the spectators, I think if one of them fails, they should withdraw the other car too; that would spice up the championship...
I think that is evens now for the Mercedes drivers in terms of outside intervention. Now I hope it's just driving skills and mental strength.

Would have loved to see Alonso on the podium, but it would probably have been a bit unrealistic.

Very disappointing showing from McLaren; they looked to have found a bit of pace, but flattered to deceive. Button looked pretty feisty in the race until the car died (loved the in-car footage where his steering display went off, then re-appeared with the McLaren logo. You'd think they might have a race-reboot mode that skipped the pretty stuff!)

Very exciting last quarter of the season in prospect, despite the Contstructors' title having been decided (all but) and the drivers' being one from 2.

McLaren lose their title sponsor to Ecclestone

Further evidence of the hatred Bernie has for Ron? During the McLaren spygate scandal ; (Ecclestone later talked Mosley down from banning McLaren for two years (“bit heavy”, he said) and instead imposing a record $100 million fine. Mosley joked that it was “$5 million for the offence and $95 million for Ron being a cloud9”.) and maybe a reason why McLaren should depose him? McLaren are not getting any better and nobody seems to want to work with them/Ron.

Listening to Ted's excellent notebook on sky and you get an insight into how McLaren work. One of the ex McLaren mechanic is nicknamed "Pedals" as that was all his role was, setting up the pedla box. Newey left, allegedly because he did not have enough say over the whole car, and that still seesm to be the case. Big shame.

Mmmm two pots calling one kettle there then. The sooner Ecclestone cloud9 off the better IMO.
