Well, a Coupe on the road is always good news, but openly admitting you eat pot noodles on an open forum is probably not a good idea. laugh

Simon this forum has quite a good code of conduct, you're new so don't feel the need to apologise too much.

Barnacle I think you may want to remove your quotation of the now deleted!

Also - glad you have a 12 month ticket! I'd get it mapped before you go back next year.

So tell us about the gas installation.
I've seen it on a 200sx putting out big power and it worked well.

Barnacle should not remove his post. That is not the solution. How does making others complicit in concealing help? The fraud/offence is not to be concealed but put right. The car needs to be made roadworthy and then legitimately pass its MOT.

It's an Internet forum emjay, get a grip. Plus it's emissions, not brakes, not structual body work.or suspension. There will be plenty modded cars on here and else where that have had a blind eye turned to a de-cat.
My post was made as the op deleted what he'd put on advice from others, then berated, plus he's made apologies.

I do understand why my stand may make you (and others) feel uncomfortable.

I've read on here instances of some Coops making it through the MOT emissions test with a nod & wink, & having the MOT tester attention shall we say. Not in such an obvious way it has to be said, but reading between some lines non the less.

Sparkyman, your comment is unhelpful. Muzzie, to answer your point:

I have removed my original comment, since its two points had been made:

(a) the advisability of advertising what could have been an illegal act on an open forum, and
(b) the performance of the act itself.

I see no case in which an MOT should be passed on a nod and a wink. Whether the safety consideration is explicit and immediate (e.g. brakes, lights, chunks of chassis rusted out) or implicit and delayed - emissions. They are both there for the safety of the public at large, not the convenience of the driver... the correct course of action for any vehicle - coupe or not - which fails a legally required test is to fix it or remove it from the road.

While we're on the subject - removing a catalytic converter from a vehicle which has one fitted as standard is an offence in and of itself. Driving a vehicle without the cat causes the emissions to be illegally high; a second offense. Both of these if discovered - roadside test, for example - carry fines and points.

Uncomfortable? No, you made yourself sound like a pretentious prat. Which you usually don't do.

Barnacle, I am aware of the law thank you and I don't condone removing emission control devices. However if the op is told that their post is dangerous and they remove it and apologise leaving a quote up carries no justification.

But thank you for removing it thumb

Most on here are well aware (or should be) regarding the law & the MOT. I only make observations these days. I observe around my neck of the woods some vehicles driven by young gentlemen certainly have items missing from their exhaust system.

Not the end of world, but I'm surprised that they risk being parted from their hard earned or even worse.

Just my observations. driving

Of course next year, if the OP has sold up and moved on, and the new owner comes in with a "How did this pile of carp ever get an MOT?" Thread, everyone will be telling him what a bunch of cowboys the garage was.

If they'll turn a blind eye to emissions, what else will they let go?

OK so went and got the cat from me dads today. fitted it back on took it back for mot retest and she just scrapped through glad he gave me a few days to get it sorted also had to sort the steering gaiter out, done that as well hard days work but worth it. She is 100% road worthy now. And this op will never sell this car, my dads pride and joy before becoming my pride and joy, this car will be showing up at the shows soon and looking/performing great.
Sorry for being the topic of discussion this will not happen again as from here on in I will post only forum friendly stuff.(just an honest person here)
Hope this will be the end of a post I wish I never started and never meant to cause discussions/arguments between members, Thanks to all for being understanding, top guys, she is now road legal 100%.
And just wanted to say I didn't remove anything from this car I know nothing about Coupe's, car was handed down to me as it is. but I will be learning and seeing you with a great car soon.
Regards.
Simon.

Good on you!
In slight defence of some of these comments we have had and do get, from time to time, some people who buy cheap and then expect to run on a shoe string. These often cause issues with both standard of the repairs and future owners.

Can only tell you what I know my friend car was converted back in 2005 got the receipt here cost 2k+ runs like a monster in petrol (shes a quick car) but in gas she aint the best I just use gas when on the motorway and she's just fine then, will cruise at 80/90mph. Will be looking into this soon as if its causing me coupe harm Id rather remove it to be honest read some good and some bad stuff just sifting through it. Sorry cant tell you more but only had the car 2 weeks.
