Having fallen foul of it myself (no one is perfect angel ) I notice occasionally that people get common sayings wrong... and then the wrong one becomes common parlance. For example

"I did it off my own bat" becomes "..off my own back"

There are a few more that I can't remember.... any offers?

Extra Christmas pud for the best ones.

I expect Joey Essex is the source of a few. laugh

Ok, here are two more to get you going:

A mute point (a moot point)
One foul swoop (one fell swoop)

Where to start?

- By the skin of my teeth (rather than with).

- Money is the root of all evil.

- Alas poor Yorick! I knew him well.

- It begs the question (which is said correctly, but used incorrectly)

I could go on, and probably will

Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing? (John 7:51)

Awesome. Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio; a fellow of infinite jest.

Just don't spell Horatio with an F rolleyes

You see that just makes me want to post this and turn up the volume on the headphones (a lot) that I'm supposed to be wrapping for MiniWishy. Probably not the best rip of the tune but you get the drift.

Up yours Photobucket.

Politicians are the great manglers of our language - the one that has me gnashing my teeth is "red lines in the sand" you can either refer to drawing a line in the sand, or the thin red line but please don't combine the two into some incomprehensible, ignorant mess!
