Hi Peeps,

Any one going to the festival this weekend? I'll be there on Saturday in my Burgundy Bomber. If you want to meet up, let me know.

Alan

Would love to be there.

Have several Fiat Car Club of Queensland friends who are flying out of Australia on Friday and will be at Goodwood over the weekend. Wish I was with them as they are off to Italy and then will catch the big historic meeting at "The Ring" in Germany in late August.

So if you see a group of 6 lost Aussies on the weekend, look after them.

I'm going up on the saturday too. Went last year and was stuck in traffic for a couple of hours and ended up arriving at about 1030.

Think I'll be leaving earlier this time.

I will be there on the Sunday, staying over locally on the Saturday night only 1.5 miles from the show so no early start for me

I've already been . I thought I'd take a picture of the Coupe in front of the bridge whilst I was laying the graphics.

I'll be there on the Saturday in my Mongol Rally car - will be trying to sneak in some fund raising in the car park if the car park attendants let me!!!

Pop over and say hi if you see me,

John.

RESULT!

My mate who works for a lifestyle magazine has just called me to say he has two free press tickets, which will get us full hospitality, plus access to the paddock and driver's areas.

Looks like I'll be having a good time with the camera and autograph book

Yup - had a great day too, although it was very wet on Sunday morning, cleared up to be very hot & sunny for the afternoon.

Thanks to my press tickets, I could wander almost anywhere (including having a free slap-up lunch of smoked salmon, pasta & stuff in the press centre )

The best place by far was the paddock / collection area, as the drivers would congregate and talk with each other.

just a few of the many piccies I took

son of a famous bloke

got fairly close to the action

WTF?

THAT car

What a day!

Had been half a dozen times before but they'd really got the parking sorted this year, only queued for about 5 minutes!

Highlights for me include:

- Hearing the Renault engine playing 'God Save the Queen', at first I thought I was hearing things.... was very well done though .

- Seeing a white 'maintenance' van go past down the hill, ladders on top and all, but noticing the popping exhaust and XJ220 wheels - yes it had a 3.5 litre blown 6 on board.

- Obtaining a 'BACK OFF!! I'm sticking to the Limit' warning sticker from the speed camera partnership stall - fixing it to the evo and overtaking lines of traffic on the way home. Pulling in in front of a Porsche 911 (996) and having him wet himself laughing... Only to be utterly blown away seconds later by a Merc CLK GTR .

- Petter Solberg absolutely Daddying it on the rally stage, perfectly executed donuts incorporated into the lap.

- Seeing the 599 stuff it into the haybales - some playboy with shattered carbonfibre and a dented ego on his hands...

- Almost having an involuntary bowel movement as the F1's blasted off metres from my ears - my poor g/f had no idea what to expect!!

I'm sure theres more - I'll post some pics in due course.

Civic - I thought I saw you!. Were you near Jodie kidd when she was queuing up to leave the paddock? Along with the 917K, Martini Lancia, Malboro indy car and some mental turbo cars that were stupidly loud.

My highlights:
- That Transit van, superb. Maccie D box on the dash - brilliant.
- Auto Union V16 blatting up the hill. Nothing else sounds like that animal.
- Standing near Jodie Kidd and everyone was taking photo's of her. Then some bloke shouted in a northern accent 'Oh fccuk, I've cut her head off'
- Buying myself a new torque wrench

Lowlights

- Seeing lots of people with sun burn
- The coupe developing an intermittent alarm problem (see Tech problems)
- The bugatti veyron. It was going so slow!. Put your foot down man!
- Didn't see the SD1 with Merlin engine (from PPC magazine)

Was an excellent day!

Highlights
were standing 25ft, at the most, away from a BAR Honda when Mansell did a burn out!!! So so GOOD.
Standing at the turn around point beyond the start line, watching an AM DBRS9, AMV8 and a couple of other Le Mans cars doing donuts!
The Tornado display was great too.
Oh and standing on a bend in the forest, watching Petter Solberg slithering his way towards me in his, WRC Scooby, at stupid speeds, thinking if he f*cks it, i'm f*cked! He was something else!

Lowlights:
Why the hell couldn't we drive those Bowlers ourselves?!?!?
I saw the SD1 with Merlin engine, but was disappointed, the thing is a mess!!

Saw a Sprint Blue coop in car park A East, C2. Anyone from here?
Oh and i made a scooby nearly crash on the way home. He tried staying with me as i nailed it down and around a very tight slip road joining the A3. When i looked back he was heading towards the grass, MASSIVE understeer i wasn't even working the tyres that hard in the Evo

I was there flying in some of the celebs, fisichella, mansell John Surtees. Jodie kidd flew in with one of our competitors. Our office is at the circuit and she came in asking to use the toilet, my boss told her no and that the oublic toilets where round the corner. Don't think we will be getting any ork from her! lol! Missed all the action as I was working all weekend with the Helicopters pleasure filghts! Did see a yellow coupe in the car parkbehind the pleasure flight helipad though!
