yeah i tried that a couple of weeks ago with my new daily drive.

their price was 300 quid more than the cheapest and they couldnt come close.

when i asked how a grp 6 car was so costly under them (its a 105 gold tdi) they asked if id driven a car like that before.

I sometimes wonder what goes on 'behind the scenes'. I got a basic quote of £255 fully comp., limited mileage etc. for my first 20VT (and third policy through Flux with Trinity Lane), but they said they couldn't match that nor the quote via Neil Willies for my 2nd. Very puzzling.

Having been with AF for two years I tried Sarah at NW and it's saved me the best part of £300, 6k mileage maximum.

I neither understand the fluctuation of quotes.

wifey was quoted £665, FC, 2yr exp, 2yr NCB, 8000mi limit, all the usuals with most of the FC quotes like w/screen cover, replacement car, TPFT on any other vehicle...

NW were close to this but couldnt do courtesy car or TPFT on other vehicles...

the strange thing NW and AF both quoted me with the same underwriter!

Very similar situation with my quotes both with Equity Redstar via NW and AF, both very similar price. NW classic car insurance, AF standard with 6 years NCB. NW was able to add my girlfriend to the policy but the car had to be kept off-street, AF couldn't add my gf but the car could be kept on the road plus they offered lower excess. So I rung Equity Redstar to check why the difference. The answer was - different criteria for different brokers... Simples!

AF defiantly upped their game!

It is down to the mileage; Neil Willies will do you a great deal but the cars are dealt with as classics, not everyday drivers. I have three, and they are all insured for sub-5000 miles a year. NCB is irrelevant, and you do not build up a bonus, but you do get a guaranteed value for your car. Mine are all around £300 a year.
