Well i have to say i really enjoyed the closing ceremony. Yes there were some odd bits, for example:

Doubt anyone else got the Delboy and Rodney bit, probably more people wondering why we're laying claim to batman.

Winston Churchill monologing from the top of big ben. Weird and oddly out of place.

Poor performance from Liam Gallagher, one less George Micheal song and an extra track from Fatboy Slim would have been perfect.

Otherwise i thought it was a brilliant display of just how much this little old island has contributed to the world's culture. Nice nods to UK fashion (really want to know who got the giant Kate Moss canvas! love ), ballet, and theatre.

Sinead O Connor's entrance was totally surreal and brilliant.

Sadly i think the TV direction didnt hold up to what was going on. As an example, we got about 1 second of seeing the Lennon face once it was built before it broke apart again, would have been nice to have seen more of it coming together.

Nearly. The premier league is back on the telly from next sunday, the NFL season starts on the 5th September and the F1 season will resume in a couple of weeks.
