Wondered what that gold one was in Hanover St today!

Just made the last post!

Yes team UK, sorry Great Britain and Northern Ireland rolleyes , you did yourself proud today smile the future Mr Ennis is a lucky man!

Just as well wee Mo had his running mate with him, it looked as if half the front runners were out to tread all over him, the way he was glancing anxiously either side and pushing runners away from under his feet. Great to see them get the 1 and 2.

Loved the style of the long jumper but hats off to Jessica E, what a role model.

WOW what a day.

There have been some great results this week but yesterday and last night was just Fantastic. We have seen some great GB athletes rising to the challenge and storming to victory. It's great to see so many people stepping up and delivering the performance of their lives..... and then there are the prima donna footballers rolleyes

Why did our nation decide to take that regular penalty pain we are always forced to endure to the olympics confused Football is the sport that shouts so loud but all too often delivers so little loser wink

Couldn't agree more! Wonderfully ironic that our ladies lose to Canada at football, but we cannot stop winning gold in canoes, rowing boats and hopefully today in yachts. It is also nice to dispel the myth that the Brits only win medals when they are sitting down. We can win when running and shooting, just not at the same time wink

Murray's display should not be underestimated. That was astounding.

That was effectively a two set match, so he should be ok unless the adrenalin wears off...

Gutted for Louis Smith - Him and the Hungarian had exactly the same points but the rulebook awards the gold to the higher execution score as opposed to the higher difficulty score which Smith had. Does not seem fair....... First individual Brit gymnastics medal a century though thumb

As much as i am loving how well GB are doing, and very proud n all that, how much of our success this year do people think is down to athletes raising their game for their home Olympics, and how much is down to the poor Olympics that two usual power-houses, Russia and Australia, have had ?

Australia having a bad Olympics... shame rofl woohoo

As for Russia, who cares? The cheated their way through the 70's 80's and 90's so can't say I care.

On a separate note...
Would you like a nice bitter lemon to suck Wendy? No matter how bitter I felt I would keep it buttoned in this scenario.

Looking at our results, we have not profited at Australia's expense in any event so far. They have failed in the water, as have Germany, and even Team GB.

As for Russia, they have been on an Olympic slide since the split up of the USSR and the closure of their sports laboratories.

Home Olympics has helped Team GB and hindered in slightly unequal measure. What it has done is brought a lot of fresh blood into some sports, Athletics especially. This may go on to benefit big time in Rio.

Who cares. Regardless of the reason, we've smashed them, there would certainly be an Aussie twanged chorus of derision if the medal counts were reversed.

I think at the moment Hamble village (pop @4000) has half the Aussie Gold medal count smile

They came 3rd last time around. Not bad for a non-olympic side.

I meant "have been on a slide", my typo, sorry. But their count is going down. However if you added all the former USSR states together they would have still not dominated like the days of yore. China are the country in the assendancy still.

Does anyone have figures on how many tickets were sold within the UK and how many to 'foreigners'?

I actually got excited for the first time last night watching the Olympics. It was the Men's 800m semis I think, and a Brit was 5th coming round the last bend, but managed to finish 2nd.

My Lord, our hockey boys got a serious shelacking last night. At least the girls got their act together today to clinch the bronze against the Kiwis. Just hope the men can regroup and BEAT THE AUSSIES tomorrow.....

My moment of the Olympics so far? The dressage!!! How on earth can you teach a horse to do ballet? Jaw-droppingly elegant and gripping at the same time. I don't understand it, but I see a lot of horses in my role as a veterinary pharmacist, and the only time they lift their legs is to have sex or kick you (sometimes at the same time). Sheer genius......

Been a year since the Tottenham 'riots' so hopefully spreading some joy with the Olympics which are happening very close by.
I can cycle to work along the River Lea. Although I am on holiday at the moment I have needed to go in occasionally like today.
The first pic is where you can get a boat trip down to the Park. This is two mins from me. Its been set up especially for the Olympics but will continue after I believe at a much cheaper rate. click to enlarge
This is how it should be, Mark Duggan incident happened a few hundred metres to the left up the road of this pic. What a contrast. Yes, this is Tottenham in London.
Second pic is going down the river and one of the smaller boats you can take. click to enlarge
The building centre is Lea Valley Skating Rink. The construction on the left was a bone of contention with some 'greens' something to do with the American camp. And the spec is the camera airship. click to enlarge
Further down the river looking over to the Olympic park with the spec again. click to enlarge
