I am currently about to change my 16vt gear knob for a momo one and while I am at it I thought I may shorten the gear stick, no need to worry about lift reserve on the 16v and I know Barbz offers a shorten gear shift exchange but given my location (on the other side of the world) just thought I would shorten mine

Another know how much shorter the mod one is than standard and if I need to make any other changes? My momo knob is a grub screw mount so no probs cutting off whatever lenght really

Cheers

How do you do it, saw it off and then use a die to re-thread it? Or is it a bit more complicated?

Frary looks good - how much did you cut off the stick approx? what about an 1 inch, more, less

And SymonH you generally replace with Momo gear knob or similar which has the grub screws so no need for a thread, so just hacksaw it off.

cannot comment on the 16v but the 20vt, your able to cut at least 1 1/2 inches off the shaft. makes it feel alot nicer but personally i would like to have got the short throw kit instead

It's just my location for the short throw kit, it's an exchange job and I'm 2 weeks courier away so a month without the car is too long, guess I could by another off the forum or something and get it sent direct to Barbz and he may send the short throw to me direct?

so can anyone confirm what you get in the short throw kit? is it just a gear stick and pin arrangment or the whole carrier etc for inside the car?
