2012 Lakes Run / Overnighter - March 17/18th #1297467

After Carlisle, I realised that I like the driving and car chatting element of the coupe meet, as much as the drinking and eating part!!

So let's get this on the go again. I can do pretty much any weekend in April, but I reckon for weather and convience, looking at Saturday March17/18th, meeting at the sportsman again, but with seperate convoys from each area. I am aware that SPA is the following weekend for some, so date could be subject to change dependant on interest.

I'm sure we could tempt flea up to do some fuelling checks if people were interested and a club rep to sell/promote club goods events etc. The meet will also include some enjoyable driving on some of the best and most scenic roads in the country.

It was a great event in previous years and I'm gutted its been replaced (in a way) by an event which involves no driving. frown

I know that MABR and a few others were up for this, earlier this year. Can we get some level of interest from people?

I think if there is those travelling from Scotland, (like myself) then some may stay overnight. Obviously there is no need to stay if you don't want to!!

So, looking at the weekend of 17/18th March 2012.

If interested, please put your name below and we'll go from there;

As I said at the weekend Steamer, you'd be more than welcome with the GT, it's still Italian, you'd still be slow regardless laugh and you might even get to see your old LE if Mike come along too cool

I could be up for this. A good road trip to celebrate the arrival of Spring.... thumb . I haven't been back to the Lakes for 40 years, and my gander was raised by watching Richard Wilson driving a lovely old TR in Great Drives smile

I may have been up for this if it wasn't the weekend before Spa. Definitely have a long break in the lakes in mind later this year.

I know it would alienate some of you guys going to Spa, but looking at easter being in April and also meet after Spa wouldn't be much use to you guys either, I felt the 21st was the best time.

If its well supported, I would look to arrange another one.

Love the Lake District!! laugh

When do the clocks change next year? Happy to go with the majority though; the original date suggested was a bit close for the Spa jockeys.......

Ross this is showing great potential! It's too far in advance for me to make a commitment even though it's tempting smile

May I suggest that the thread title is altered to show the revised date?

Would be rude of me not to turn up for this one as it is on my doorstep. As long as I am not at work that is.

How cheap do you want the digs? If you drive a bit past the lakes bottom end there is a travelodge as you drive into Barrow. From 19.50 a night. 24 hour Asda over the road and a pizza hut at the front door. Could do nice but at a price all over the lakes though.

That sounds a good deal.

Hiya wave laugh

Accomodation hasn't been sorted as far as I know Steamer.

I haven't looked into it any further, as it's looking more likely that I won't be able to attend frown

I'd be interested in tagging along, as a newbie/long-time absent member. I'd probably only be there for the day on the 18th though', as I'm relatively local, if that's ok...

Well as I'm still crippled and barely walking I can't attend.

If someone else wants to organise a meet at the sportsman for circa 12.30 on the 17th, that would be good.

As this event is now only two weeks away, it may be too late to organise something, regarding accomodation, etc.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it, but I'm sure most people could make it for the day or maybe cancel this date and rearrange for another time?

With a lack of anything happening here and things going on with our families I am hoping this will be rearranged for another date. My outlaw got out of hospital last week after having her knee replaced and last night my stepdad had a heart attack, his fourth. I took the weekend off for this, but now will use the time to go to Lincolnshire to visit them. Will keep an eye out on a date change though.

A pity this one didn't work out on this occasion especially after all the forward planning.

There's always a bumper feast of rugby on Saturday as a distraction smile
