Hello!

Has anyone used 16v n/a cam as vt ex cam? Does it improve performance?

I'm fitting one as mine was worn but I don't know how it will perform.

The Tipo 16 valve exhaust cam is supposed to add 10bhp at the top end. I am not sure if it is the same as the 16V N-A coupe though.

That would be the Tipo 16v inlet cam that fits into the 16vt inlet cam.

Coupe 16v inlet is not the same as the Tipo 16v inlet

oh, i did not precised question. I'd like to use 16v n/a inlet cam in coupe turbo 16v as ex cam. I wonder if the inlet cam hove not too long duration for turbo engine. I'm afraid of back pressure pushing back ex gases into cylinders reducing power insead of increasing.

it can be done and has been done in New Zeland, the car runs something like 600 - 700bhp though, and if i remember correctly he said the cam's dont work till about 4500rpm-ish

IMO on a 16VT the torque needs improving at the bottom end, not the top, as nothing happens until 3,000rpm.

An an owner of a 16VT I find this comment insulting.
What do you mean nothing happens until 3K revs?
Many things happen, car moves, steers, etc and just waits for its wheelspin once you hit 3K!

Honest, I think all ppl modifying 16VT (me included) should find ways making the car drivable for a greater rpm range!
So no massive turbos with .86 exhaust sides, no massive FMICs, etc

V.

Begbie, what does it mean that cam doesn't work till 4500rpm? does it mean that turbo lag is sa long - till 4500 or tha cam is comparable with standard turbo ex cam till 4500 and performance gain iv above 4500?

Just because there is too much lift, too long a duration and too much overlap the cam just doesn't like being worked at low revs!

Vas, he is kinda right here, the 16vt doesn't have the best bottom end power, if anything i find it sluggish, which is why i have changed the compression ratio to 8.5:1 to help with this.

I have driven my friend's 350bhp EVO VI and the bottom end power on that was soooo much more noticeable and that runs a std compression (8.8:1)

IMO it is sluggish pulling away until the turbo starts to boost properly at around 3,000rpm. It certainly needs plenty of clutch slip when pulling from junctions in 2nd. It is worse than mt Alfa 146Ti was in this respect. Once over 3,000rpm though it goes pretty well....

No the thema cams are different also. NA thema are 43/3 with 9mm lift. Tipo inlet are 3/51 with 10mm lift, coupe NA inlet are 1/45 with 9.5mm lift and coupe NA exhaust are 42/4 with 9.5 mm lift.

By the way, anybody knows the part-number of the Tipo 16V 5-door inlet cam?
