tell you what, if you need any thing for your alfa, give me a shout as i work for Autolusso..

Barnacle, nothing really, i will have done all that i need to do today..
jsut got to wait for a part to come in so i cna fit it.

this problem has been there along time... infact, remember the AGM??

your words.. havent you got them go faster bits on it?

my words.. yer, must be having a bad day..

The good thing is, mapping will bring out any tiny flaws with your car, which for me is great..

As nigel, flea, mario, barnacle and other will confirm, ive not been happy with the coupe for a while, its felt like it was really under powered.
so after ive found and fixed my problems, i will be a happy bunny again!!!

I actually want to change my estimate, 291 also, as I misread my Rolling Road print out, my car was producing 291bhp not 282...

So thats 3 @ 291!

Saying that, a well sorted 250bhp Coupe would probably do around 216bhp on a Dyno 'heart breaker' Dynamics rolling road!

True. What the engine produces and what actually comes out at the wheel are 2 different figures.

What the engine produces is completely irrelevant. What matters is when the rubber hits the road.

The *only* way to measure the engine power accurately and consistently is with an engine dyno, out of the car.

as i have some bed time...

what happened with my coupe...

Well, i had recently been moaning about a lack of power.

After speaking to Nigel, Flea and a few others about the massive loss in power we found a few boost leaks and came to the conclusion the FMIC was restricting it.

So I changed that before the map.

I assumed every thing was as it was perfect ready for flea.

When we got there, it went onto the rollers and made...

206bhp LOL

three was hardly any boost and what was there was falling off at 3.5k ish.

then with a few minor adjustments, it made some thing like 216bhp.

the boost would climb nicely, then drop off the face of the earth soon as it hit 1bar of boost.

I left the car with flea (already heart broken but glad it was in safe hands) and went shopping in bath with the Mrs.. (BAD IDEA)

any way, come back to find that flea had been working flat out to sort the issue's.
i was also over fuelling quite badly.

Any way, i left fleas happier as i had a list to work to and need to finally fix my boost issue.

the list was simple..
shorten my FMIC pipe work as its a bit longer than it needs to be
sort out why I cant have more than 1 bar of boost
also sort out my high det issue.

Since then, well, ive been as busy as i can be.

ive shortened the FMIC pipe work
ive looped the vac pipes off the turbo to run actuating boost and found that standard boost is only set to 0.4 bar... impressive.
i need to re-adjust the preload on the turbo so it can hold more boost.
also, im in the process of sorting out a water/meth injection kit so i can reduce the high det problem..

then she will be back up to Flea for round 2.

One thing I will say, Flea is a real good guy.
He could of just turned around and said, its got issue’s go away and sort them then come back and not to waste his time.. but instead, he told me what was roughly wrong, pointed me in the best direction to fix it and also offered over the phone support (which ive already used quite a bit laugh )

He also sorted my fuelling out so it was not really a wasted trip!
Also, he made do with what he could, it feels nice to drive, its running safe, MPG is great..
he really made the best out of s sh*t situation!

Flea, i shall be seeing you soon for round 2!!
smile

Sorry forgot to say what the boost problem really was...

the actuator was set at 0.4bar, soon as it hit 1bar + it was opening the wastegate and chucking boost into the downpipe.

even with the bleed vale fully open it would not go over 1 bar...

with the vac pipe from the actuator off, it built boost up and went over to 1.3+ bar but i backed it off asap!!

then with the help of a bic pen laugh i looped the compressor vac pipe to the actuator pipe and it showed me that base boost was 0.4bar, so the problem is the actuator.

so with a bit f an adjustment to the preload on the actuator arm (which im setting to 0.8 bar) it will holding boost better.

at the moment, ive only managed to adjust it a small amout as im waiting for a midi vac to arrive for me to do it propperly.

How comes fuel? I'm running mine on 95 most of the time and don't have a problem. Or am I missing something?
