I thought some people may be interested in the brake pads which i have fitted from Carbotech, so here is a little review; I fitted them a few weeks ago and am really impressed with the cold bite – these are significantly better than the EBC yellowstuff I was using before, just as good as standard pads. They dont require any heat to be effective. I went out to bed the pads in and was soon licking the windscreen! I am now able to lock the brakes at XXXmph very easily, when the pads are warm they are pretty epic. I was quite an advocate of the Yellowstuff pads but these really are a different league, i'm able to control the brakes to the point of locking at any speed. I used the pads on a small trackday last week and they were excellent too. I couldn’t get them to fade and found I could brake much later than I previously could when using the Yellowstuff. At Curborough, i think i improved my braking distance on the main straight by around 15m (based on the marker boards). The only downsides which I have noticed are; lots of brake dust (which I’m not bothered about), and they squeal badly. I may have to look into shims for this. The XP-10 is a race compound, and there are some great reviews on the t'interweb, mainly from Mitusbishi Evo owners. The bedding in procedure is a "Light Trackday" I can highly recommend these pads. Thanks to Begbie for recommending

In other news, my Pagid yellows, fitted in february, have crumbled to dust in just 4 trackdays and less than 2k road miles. Can I suggest you get in touch with Paul Wilkinson at CBP - he would be interested to know how you've killed a set of Yellows so quickly

Matt, glad you're enjoying them and yes, they are a tad dusty, although mine don't squeal and if they do, it's at very low speed. Although I'm using the XP8, they don't half chuck some dust out. Polished white wheels for Auto Italia at brooklands last month, 30 mile drive and they are having a nice light covering already.

Will report back Edit - Paul's not back until Thursday. Not that I expect any kind of refund, just somewhat surprised and disappointed.

Matt,
How do the Carbotechs hold up after a 20 minute track session? Curborough's all well and good as a test of cold braking, where I'd expect OMP pads to be able to perform acceptably. But have you used them on a 20 minute track session at 100mph +?
In other news, my Pagid yellows, fitted in february, have crumbled to dust in just 4 trackdays and less than 2k road miles. So need some decent pads for Spa!! Not completed a track day with these pads in yet, but I'm expecting good things. I noticed your thread regarding the pagid. Its interesting because I had my ebc yellows in for a similar period of time and they have been subjected to a similar amount of torture and they look exactly the same as your pagid when I removed them. I also had to change my gold brembos! I suppose all I can do is report back after a proper track day.

Wait for Marco to bitch about his organ being re-arranged Corrected that for you Alexis I had a good chat with a guy called Ian, he said these will be like nothing else I've used before so I'm hoping they're as good as he's saying. How have you found them for wear as I used a set of DS2500 last year just on that weekend?

Can't really comment on wear, as the last set of performance pads I had were the DS2500 and they didn't inspire confidence from high speed, but these are just awesome, yes there is alot of dust generated, but it just slows you at a rapid speed, without fuss or issue, I think I was on the brakes for 2 - 3 seconds tops and that brought the speed down like you wouldn't believe. Probably best for Dan or Marco to comment on their performance.
Actually Marco will have a video of the braking performance as he was filming on our hoon session at the A.I photo shoot.

Hmmm.... probably gonna get a set of these when I replace my current DS2500's.
Begbie - I assume carbotech are well upto speed with which pads with fit my D2 6 pots (as they are the same as k-sport 6 pots)?
