You guys have made me feel a lot better about myself, with the boyfriend constantly going on I feel like I'm in the wrong, that I'm doing something I shouldn't be. Yes I know its mainly men on here... but there is nothing wrong with a mechanically minded girl is there?

But anyway he does hate the coupe, he asks me what the point is, why don't I just buy a new car that I don't have to keep fixing...yawn yawn... etc

And it isn't that he is wrong for me because he doesn't like my car, its not that at all. It's that he knows it is something I love but won't even try to accept it. I show an interest in all the things he likes! Damnit I even learnt to snowboard and went to Italy to snowboard with him just to get with him.... that is a lot more effort than just accepting a car!!!

That is a very good idea, but he wouldn't do it frown It would just start up some more abuse.

And for all those wondering.... he drives a Golf!!!

In the coupe.
The swap idea started looking good Emmie, until you said he has a golf.
But the coupe is special for sure, but if you really love him you have to deal with the problem.
On the other hand if he loves you ,hr should respect your car choice.
After all there are more important things to think about than cars.
Good luck.

Nowt wrong with a Golf however the Fiat Coupe oozes class and style.
With regard your boyfriend, he is a TIT/AR5EHOLE/SELF-CENTRED/OPINIONATED chappie who you should bin without a second thought, and get on with your life the way you want.
Clearly, I am non of the above but am married [boo-hoo].

of course, T does all that as she eloquently points out - BUT she can drink 10 pints of strong lager an hour whilst rolling 100 ciggies shocked ..... surely that is beyond emmies capabilities wink

I foresee much disappointment when "emmie876" is revealed to be a 50 year old male trucker from Norfolk.

I'm not 50 and I'm not a trucker.

I'm 23 and an IT geek, just to set that straight.

Got something else to add:
My boyfriend works with me, his desk is right next to me, and has probably has been wondering what I've been laughing at the last couple of days...
I really hope he was interested enough to have a rummage around through what I've been looking at and find this!!

A Golf!? A bloody Golf!? Default car to buy if you have no interest in cars = Focus. If that's a bit too exciting for you and you crave a bit more blandness = an Astra. If you feel like somehow you're better than Focus/Astra drivers, but still have no opinion on what car to buy = a Golf. It's a non-car. I bet it's an exciting shade of not quite silver-grey too.

My Mrs drives an MR2 Roadster, so at least she has some credibility when she complains about my car ("why are the seats so hard" / "why don't you thrash your Fiat like you thrash my car" generally!)

I've done the "his & hers" Coupé thing and it wasn't as good as it sounds, mainly because "she" completely abused the lovely VIS I bought her and it was all I could do to keep it running & in one piece.

Thankfully my latest squeeze thinks my Plus is "very very nice" and the exhausts sounds "really sexy". The girl before that liked it too but preferred her 1-series rolleyes

Oh, and having had the pleasure of meeting Emmie876 I can confirm she's NOT a 50 year old trucker! You lot should be so lucky wink

From a females point of view :

good on you for loving the coupe, and having the ability to work on them... (where you based? I'd trust a women with mine more than I would a male.. Lol)

secondly - I shouldn't say, but the coupe and men are so similar...

They emotionaly drain you
They physically drain you
They financially drain you
Very rarely nice to you
The rides good sometimes
They take alot of looking after...

Need I say more?

The only differance is the coupe can't back chat you!!

Gosh... Is it really that bad?! Lol
