So my boyfriend...... cannot deal with me owning a Fiat Coupe, driving fast cars, working on the car myself and enjoying doing it.

He constantly goes on and on about how he thinks it is a horrid car, it looks ugly, badly designed, what the hell were fiat doing making that, when I win the lottery I'm going to have every single one crushed. Etc. Along with insults about me being a woman, shouldn’t like cars and all the rubbish that goes along with what.

Obviously I get pretty angry at him and disagree with what he is saying and fight for the coupe but that tends to inspire him to continue. I will not placate him even though it seems the easier option. I tell him he is welcome to his opinion and I don’t need to hear it every day but he still goes on and on......

Anyway this morning, he spent an hour talking at me about how he thinks the Fiat Coupe looks like a Nissan Juke. Grrr! He has gone too far this time. Any ideas on how to shut him up, or is going to be fiat coupe or him?!? His chances aren’t looking good.

If I were a guy, I think it would be awesome to have a girlfriend who was not only interested in cars, but owned such a great one, and even liked working on it herself!

I hope this will be an interesting little discussion, all opinions welcome!
Thanks guys smile

What car does he drive!
Shame, not appreciating the positives you mention.

All I can suggest is run him over in the coupe.

My mrs is the opposite she loves my coupe and buys me stuff.

What car does he drive? Maybe a little jealous,

Truth is his ego feels threatened, you drive a sports car, know how to work on it and consequently he feels the need to belittle it.

I think you know the answer to your predicament deep down (it's either him or the coupe).

haha this will be a good thread to read later on!

Emmie - my mrs loves car's.
she is in the process of buying a 147 GTA.

at the same time she loves the coupe, but hates the energy i put into keeping it alive and running sweet!
although it stressers her out as im busy every weekend with the car, she allows it because i would not have it any other way!!!!

i think your feller is in fear of loosing his mail pride.

what car does he drive?

the fact he is comparing it to a nissan duke clearly means he has no clue.

the main thing he seems to be doing is slagging off its looks.. am i right?

does he mention the performance?

or cant he fault the sweet 16 engine?

if i where you, (and belive me i wish i was...giggady) i would tell him to shhh and get on with it!

if it makes you happy, he should except it.

please tune in next week for more on cars and relationships.

laugh

Why are you listening to your boyfriend Emmie?

It's your car and you like it, so just ignore him and let him get on with his own thing.

If he hasn't anything better to do than constantly have a go at you and your car, then maybe time to get rid (of him, not the Coupe).

Or, just to annoy him, buy him one as a present and when he says he doesn't want it, because it's crap, just say 'oh well, another one for me to play with. Not worth selling it, as it's a Fiat and not worth anything, so may as well keep it'. laugh

Of course I am probably completely wrong. 8)

I find it hard to believe anyone can get a coupe mixed up with a juke shocked

Joking aside emmie, I'd tell him you've had it up to here with his whining and if he wants to carry on he can go cloud9 himself because youre calling it a day. Remind him you are deadly serious. Lifes too short for people like that.

In the coupe.
I would suggest taking him along to a decent sized Coupe meeting. Let him see what a great community our club is.
If there is a chance to get him into one of the big horsepower coupes i think he may change his mind.
Good luck with it/him Emmie
