Saw this on the Bay. 1800 quid to re-commission (proof) .. wonder what that was for apart from belts/tensioners? Only cloth seats though and little wheels. Wonder if Samsite999 has spied it?

Great find - and at £3k good value imho, compared with the imfamous £5k yellow 16vt if its the same yellow coop at the little garage for sale that i'm thinking of then i test drove it a year and a half ago. and i can safely say that last week it was still sat on the forecourt!

my question would be - why has it been dry stored for 11 years?
who buys a £25k car, drives it for a few years, then abandons it to a garage for 11 years??
i smell bullsh*t

i smell bullsh*t When you put it like that it does seem odd. I found it strange that recently 1800 was spent on the car, therefore they are only making around 1200 profit... hmmm however you never know. It does look like its just left the factory... the interior looks mint. We will see... . fingers crossed it surfaces on the forum once sold.

How typical is this one? For my car I looked at first to a car 5 hours drive from me (the scary yellow one) than to the Midlands which is a couple of hours drive from me. This surfaces straight after, 16 miles from me.
After the potential disaster I would have had with the yellow one had Pete not looked over it for me, no way would I touch any car without a club inspection, hpi check, AA inspection and the car must have every bit of paperwork to prove statements. Being so close, I must go to have a look and take a drive. I'll get back to you later today.

I would have had with the yellow one had Pete not looked over it for me, no way would I touch any car without a club inspection, There is no such thing as a Club Inspection and for the record, that yellow car was pretty well as described by the garage. It was overpriced in my opinion.

I actually advised wafcarl of the cambelt issue by pm and I quote I saw the receipt for the belts dated May 09, so you should have a couple of years before the cambelt next needs changing. The clutch was apparently done at the same time. as part of a much more detailed report. My point remains, and I emphasise that there is no such thing as a Club Inspection.

Wafcarl, I really really hope you won't buy it. If you expect a car with 11k miles, also shouldn't forget it's still a car that needs money spent to maintain it. It is still a 17 or so old car that (anither way of putting it) was 'forgotten'. Just stood there. Plus it will cost more on fuel than the 20vt you have now, which I believe to be a very good one with just a few minor things to sort. And I'm just reacting to your possibly returning the car for strange reasons. So. Tell me. What are you expecting? A 20vt that has zero miles, comes with a 7 year full no exception warranty, including 7 years free maintenance, for 4k?
Really, I don't think you're in the right surroundings here. I can promise you, you will NEVER be fully satisfied! I KNOW how this story will end. I've seen similar ones before.

I am not buying it, but a car 16 miles away with a mielage like that surely warrants a look. I am buying no car, but I can still look at other cars that are becoming more rare in that condition.
The car looks fine, it's had no mods, still has original radio cassette, I could find no corrosion uner the bonnet, around the doors, the boot or around wheel arches. In the boot, everything is there including unused spare wheel. I checked oil levels and took the car for a drive which felt realy good and the steering was weighted perfectly. All the documentation is fine and inside the seats are as new. A big pointer is the seat belts, they shoot straight back when let go.

With regards to the wrong surroundings, does the following ownership not put me in the right surroundings: Fiat 131 Mirafiori Sport Fiat Uno Turbo ie Fiat Punto GT Turbo Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo (1) Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo (2) Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo (3) I think the top 3 including two 2.8 injection capris shows I am well aware of a cars age being a factor and the bottom 3 shows the love I have for this model of car. As for relatively minor factors concerning my car: May be we should speak privately about these matters.

It does look like its just left the factory... the interior looks mint. I'm not so sure it does - the seats have the typical 16v sunlight fade on them, unusual for there to be sunlight in garages? I'm guessing that the 16v seats were actually black in the middle from new? Barnacle will know, but they turn a greeny colour over the years.

Having looked at the photos, it appears that this car may have a later grill fitted, i.e. not the recessed one that is on my '96 16VT.
But I could be wrong!
Has the console gone "sticky" or has it been refurbed?

Last night I was weighing up that car and a couple of things only some will know. On lifting my car bonnet, the struts do the work, but this was different. Struts in place but different to mine as when you lifted the bonnet you had to click the right strut over to the right to secure it. Also, when looking for a car I was wanting a honeycomb grill. This car had one, don't know if it should have. Finally for me were the tyres. You may know if a car standing for so long has to have new tyres or not, but if they do, they are not originals. More worryingly, these tyres do not have the pieces of rubber sticking out from the tyres to indicate new. The car was still around the back and the salesman told me the car had not yet been valeted, but the tyres were well coated in tyre shine. It does look nice, but more constructive you see things that ask questions. Hope this helps.

The struts will be the originals to the car, what was the interior wear like? Did you look at the pedals, steering wheel, seats, gear knob? What condition was the engine in? Wheels, did they have the original paint on them, their condition? Was the exhaust tip original and in good nick?
I didn't know we had opened an 'investigation' branch?

That is a normal 16v grill(not honeycombe but 16's were kinda grated) and the bonnet struts are the early none gas type that require the right hand one to click in..Ive just changed my 1997 20vt ones.

Cheers, there doesn't look a lot wrong with the car then. Interior, wheels, engine bay etc all looked fine.

Carl - you've probably just (inadvertently) hit the nail on the head
The car looks fine
However, you simply cannot leave a car standing for years and years and just get away with changing the belts and tyres.
Sure - the car will run just fine, but there is a very high chance that other parts will require replacement very soon. The mileage is irrelevant - some parts will require replacement due to perishing. On other parts, the mileage IS relevant, but in a negative sense - some parts will require early replacement because they haven't been used.
Yes - £3k is a good price for such a low-mileage car, but whilst there's a slim chance that it may not need much spending on it, I reckon there's a 75%+ chance that it will take another £1,500 - £2,000 off the new owner in the next couple of years (unless of course it goes into storage again)

I'm off to see it tomorrow, I'll look it over with a view to buying it as I've been after another good 16VT for a while now. It will be treated fairly, but I will be very cautious! I know a good car when I see one, if my avatar re-appears this week, you'll know what I thought of it!

Not in the right surroundings??? Ignore alot of comments on this forum Wafcarl its pathetic most the time! Very clicky anyone would think its the veyron owners club. Oh no I've been in the wrong club all this time ! I wondered why some thought they were short of power !! I do think that Boostmecoupeup is right and some are being a bit aggresive toward Wafcarl. After all he's just posted his opinion on a car for sale. And he hasn't had the easiest intro into coupe ownership. It's easy enough to get yourself in a hole on this forum without any extra help with the digging. It's a bit early to tell him his in the wrong place. I'll get my coat ready just incase I'm wrong...again

Very clicky anyone would think its the veyron owners club. i think that's pretty wrong to be honest, in many ways....all i think kayjay was trying to say was no-one is ever fully satisfied or happy with their coop - i could be wrong though.. i'va always found this forum to be extremely helpful and highly knowledgeable and the vast majority of that knowledge is free and freely given despite the many hundreds of hours that must have gone into the faq's, the how-to's etc... there are occasions when some stuff is pathetic, but in my experience that's vary rarely the forums' fault, more one or two posters who troll or have no intention of being part of it before you flame me, this is merely my opinion
