laugh all I was saying there was it's not like they haven't put the audio in I requested, so not 'being screwed over' as such because i've got what I asked for and I don't think you can't complain about paying RRP prices at a shop.

the annoyance is the difference between the RRP and the now 'online' price because then the price of the audio components comes down by approx £250, the hourly rate is also high (to me) but I don't know what similar audio companies are charging per hour.

As TAG said, best to get a quote for the work before and then deciding whether to go ahead or not.. bit difficult to argue now because they're saying that is how long it took to do and that is our hourly rate.

I can see it taking a while. Nigel's list is very nice, but if you have not taken the back of the car apart before and don't want to damage everything then it may well take a few hours to do that - removing everything and putting it back in again when I did my speakers and wing badge seals did take a while as I wanted no damage and no need to revisit it.

I don't have a problem with an hourly rate where the person could do it with their eyes shut due to their experience on that particular issue. However, if it's a place that's not fitted things to a coupe before, or not many coupes, then a total agreed amount would be the only way to go IMHO.

At the end of the day though you'll have some nice sounding ICE, installed by a professional. If you can afford the difference between what it could have cost and what it did cost that's the price of convenience and, from the tone of your posts re what you did in research etc, it sounds like its one you were willing to pay. You paid significantly over the odds, but were not that fussed about squeezing the suppliers nuts from the outset. Can't see why people would want to quibble with that if that's your lookout.
