Just got the insurance renewal letter today from Quinn Direct

i've gone from £450 (32yrs old, 8 years no claims, Fully Comp with protected NCB) to £1720 despite not having any accidents, points or claims shocked

I've had insurance quotes go up before but not 3-fold grr

I've done Go Compare (cheapest around £600ish), trying Adrian Flux, anyone recommend some more insurance companies to try !

That's insane Duncan, glad you got a decent alternative quote. Footman James not accepting any coops onto their classic policies now, least not until they're 15 years old.

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/

It is one of these monster / gocomparish type things but seems to compare more companies and come up with better deals.

yeah, I tried that one, it was better than gocompare.com but still the best quote was £580.

Tried HIS, another performance quote specialist but they were £680.

I know car insurance has been going up, but that renewal was a joke!

If you can keep your mileage under 7000 and put the missus on the policy it seems to help.

Yeah I'm limited to 5000 miles (it's not used for commuting, social only). I did try getting my dad on the insurance but as I'm over 30 it wouldn't make any difference.

Speak to those... ask for Sara tell her your from The Fiat Coupe Club and she will give you a nice discount. We are in the process of negotating a very good deal with them for our Club Members.

You should be able to negotiate a 5000 limited mile policy, agreed value (self valuation) and gauranteed buy back.

It's funny how some staff at Footman James say this.
I was meet by a "definitely not until 15 years old".
I insisted that other owners on FCCUK had classic cover and after sticking to my guns and not accepting no, I got my coupe on the limited milage classic policy for £161. smile
That was in mid July.

I'm sure if Footman James got there act together and offered a policy for FCCUK members they would get a lot of business.

Got the quote down to 465 with Adrian Flux

161 is amazing though, it was a struggle to get quotes below 500.

Darn good price they are too. I've had my coops on classic policies with FJ for around 3 years now, and pay a shade over £300 with all mods on my 300bhp porto declared smile

They told me when I renewed in July that they weren't accepting any new clients with our cars? That was end of July, perhaps they're being stricter now?

Try Greenlight too.

They seem to be the cheapest for me for the last three years.

I had the same problem a few months ago.
A guy at work was just quoted £1500 for his v6 alfa 159 with an air filter. He is 56 9y ncd but 3 NF accidents in his mx5. People just kept hitting it so he sold the mx5.

Hope you get it sorted Paul.
