Thinking ahead about what ICE to put in my Coupe when I buy one ...

want a sat nav head unit definitely, is this one good?

I don't mind paying the £500 it costs as it looks sexy etc ...

will also be installing blaupunkts 5 disc changer beneath it where the ashtray is, (can someone tell me if this can be done easily?) or the 10 disc in the boot.

also will be adding a 4 channel power amp for the speakers and an amp/sub-woofer combination.

Anyone own this headunit??

Suitable?

Matches interior? (apparantly 'key illumination' can be white or red. I don't know which would match the Coupe's current illumination...)

Pictures of how it looks in the car?

etc.

500 A bit steep, its an old design with old satalite capturing. I would stick with a TomTom, a lot moe versatile and far cheaper.

where are you going to put it? the trouble withe the coupe stereo is that it is a little low. SatNav needs to be almost like a head up display if it were not to be dangerous. In my experience the voice instructions don't work alone, you need to see the 3D map too.

I was going to place it in place of the original stereo.

My 406 Coupe has sat nav,and I occasionally glance at the screen, but predominantly listen to the vioce instructions.

But both of these systems (the Blaupunkt and the Peugeot) are relatively basic by today's TFT 6" 3D monitor-standard, and so I suppose i'm comparing like-for-like, Which is good.

I amagine that if i'd had a superior system, that I wouldn't now want to live with this Blaupunkt i'm considering. But if anything, it'll be a step up from the Peugeot's factory-system (which was designed in 2000, albeit with the latest software) and so I expect i'll be more than happy.

Plus, I get to keep the dashboard completely uncluttered, which for some reason (as most people seem unbothered...) is important to me. At least, more important than having a cutting-edge sat-nav.

Besides, I expect the Blaupunkt to be very good, but can't find reviews :-(

That's why i'm hoping someone on this forum might have one, to give me an honest appraisal of it's functionality and general quality etc. (and how it belnds in aesthetically with the Coupe. I don't even know what colour the Coupe's back-lighting is, as I still haven't found the right car)!

Anyway, thanks for all your thoughts so far guys, hoping to hear a good review! ...

The Coupe backlighting is Dark orange or Red depending on where you look.

thank you Bockers - that's ok then, as the Blaupunkt allows red lighting for the switches; so hopefully that will blend in quite 'factory' like!
