It shouldn't cause the issue because it works separately anyway and is an earth return i.e. it's only in the circuit when the bonnet opens and the spade terminal on the switch makes the circuit to earth.

It is still the same answer as before on previous posts, either keep playing with remote and physical locking or you have a door lock issue \:\(

You don't need to disconnect the battery. Find the fuse for the central locking and pull that instead, or pull the plug on the box under the driver's seat.

iv tried pulling the plug under the driver seat still no luck. would pulling the fuse be better?

Iv just been playing and found that the button in the car when pressed locks the door but the unlocks stight away again just like the fob deos. I have no trouble unlocking the car with the fob once locked. Can anyone figure out way its really beond me. Ohh i did have new door with locking motors but used my barrel would this be anything. I really just trying to track down the problem rather then just send the module and fobs back to joe and be stuck with no remote locking and alarm again was so good to have it back working for the 1 hour it did lol

Because it's unlocking itself straight away then I'd suggest it's the lock itself but I'd also suggest checking the boot light switch. I know the boot isn't on the central locking system but I've heard in the past that if the light switch in the boot isn't adjusted properly it can cause this issue.

I did think mabey the locks are playing up but why does it not happen when i use the key. Another wierd thing is whatever side i unlock the car from thats the only side it will lock other wise it locks and unlocks like the fob deos.

I'm getting the same problem.

In addition to the remote lock, locking then unlocking. If you lock it from the passenger side, it locks and then unlocks.

I'm thinking it's the driver door electrical lock failing.

Going to have a closer look when I get some time.

Mine has exactly the same problem as mad20val's. If anyone finds a fix for this, please let the rest of us know. :-)

It's been only 2 weeks since I've got the car, so I don't know much about it yet. It had the lock-unlock problem from the beginning, but one day, by magic, it sorted out itself and it worked OK. Unfortunately just for a day, as now the problem is back again. Very strange. It really seems one of the Fiat electrical mysteries.

Try as Stan says, seems to have been the cure to this problem for more coupes in the past.

STAN, YOU ARE A FCCUKING GENIUS!!!!!! bow I've had the above problem with the LE since I got it, lived with it really as I hadn't used it much anyway, things to do and all that, but just read your boot light switch thing, wound it out a bit to make sure the hinge was hitting it, and guess what, all working! I've been fiddling with other bits and bobs to rectify this on an off for weeks now, I'm going to give you a big sloppy kiss if I see you! (or a pint, your choice!!)

Cheers biglaugh

I think this needs to be put in a how to or FAQ section or similar, such an easy fix for what sems a common and very frustrating issue.

If it isn't already that is, I never found anything about this when I looked!

Stan, I've been getting the opposite issue to everyone here, mine will always lock from the fob but usually won't unlock, the alarm activates and de-activates correctly every time, I've tried fiddling with the boot light and when I do it cures the problem for about 5 mins and then it returns, even though the boot light switch has not moved, any ideas?
Cheers.

Have you tried lubricating the locks? Don't recommend WD40 for this, it's a water dispersant (hence the WD in it's name) and doesn't really lubricate. You need something better, like white grease or some decent oil based spray, even 3-in-1 spray is better than nothing.

On some cars the locking action is less "stressful" on the mechanism then the unlocking, don't know why, it just is....so dry mechanisms can cause this issue.

Failing that, hmmm, don't know!

I've not tried that yet, as the locks operate very easily from the key, giving no indication that they are clogged or not lubricated correctly, but I'll try it in lieu of other options!
Cheers

Having spent 7 months getting annoyed at the lack of central locking I thought I'd pop back on here to see if there was a fix. I posted this some time back. After following the link to this thread I ran straight out to give it a go. Tightened the boot light switch and it censored worked!! Nice on Stan cool

Stan you are the man, i had been having the problem that you can lock and unlock with the key but if you try to use the fob it just arms the alarm and unlocks itself, i tried the boot light sensor first no joy, but i found some 3in1 oil in the garage put abit in both barells worked it around abit and its spot on, iv been trying everything for days, and im v v v happy this was a free fix , fingers crossed it lasts.

Once again Thankyou Stan

MY CENTRAL LOCKING WORKS!!!!! WOOOOOO yipee

My central locking has been playing silly buggers for over 6 months now - sometimes working, but usually locking and unlocking even when using the key.

Well I thought i'd tried everything to fix it - boot light, WD40 locks, lubricate locks, try and get locks in phase, removing central locking fuse etc etc.

So i was all prepped to take the locks to bits this afternoon as i was sure it was the passenger lock that was sticking slightly, causing the car to keep unlocking itself.

But before i did this i thought i'd have one last lubricate of the locks and check of the boot light....... that sodding boot light!!

It was the boot light all along!! To be honest i can only remember checking this when my central locking started misbehaving about 6 months ago! It must have been ok the one time i checked, then i got it in my head i had dirt in my locks!!

So get checking those boot lights people! tongue

This was on a W-reg 20v by the way!

Must be a late coupe thing then as my boot light switch makes absolutely no difference to my central locking.
